wow that looks cool. My avatar is ok.. I kinda wished I started on alchemist though.
Mine as he is now..
Is there a quick way to give your pet a potion? Also is there a way to force your pet to attack something or move somewhere?
Id also like to know this...
If it's anything like diablo 2, you just hold shift when you hit the belt shortcut key. (say if you had a pot in slot 1, you'd hold shift+1)
edit:lol yep, I was right

70 Tips about Torchlight for Noobs
Lurker I like the Judge Dred armour/helmet.
Alchemist is fun but I focused mostly on doing a bunch of aoe damage with my magics and then finishing up with melee. Im starting to think I should have focused on one or the other as killing is getting slow. I am level 19 in level 22 of the dungeon. Killing Rockcrusher (the troll on 21) took a long time since he resisted my amber lance so well, I had to pound on him with my mace for like 3 minutes.
I also have an addiction to the gambling vendor. I have probably spent 30-40k on him.
One thing I was missing for the first 15 levels of the game is that you can equip spells on your pet. I have him with a heal all and freeze right now. Seems to work good.
Some of those make no sense or are completely wrong.
Ok...so I start a Warrior and get to the first boss (Brink turned bad). He kicks my ass like there's no tomorrow and I barely scratch him. I was doing fine with every mob up to him.
This is on Very Hard difficulty.
I ran around in circles feeding my pet fish and let him handle brink. Your not alone =P
I haven't fished at all yet. How/where do yo do it?
The gambling vendor guy is awesome, way better deal than the enchanter most of the time.
For my alchemist I use dual wands with a backup set of shield/mace, so I have a melee defense in case I have to get in close, but the wand combo works well if you have one that restores mana.
You should see fishing holes every couple levels. They look like this:
Theres sparkling areas in streams and rivers and whatnot, There one in-town, in the river on the right side of town right off the edge of a little pier thing.
Pretty usefull for your pet, Even the worst fish gives your pet some strong buffs. Also heals them. Theres a few in the caves too, harder to come by though.
Another tip : You can toggle the labels of everything on the ground (including the fishing holes) by clicking on the magnifying glass. Holding alt will then hide them instead of the default showing them.
After getting jipped too many times in a row by the gambler (big $$) I tried something else.
If you have a decent weapon or something with cool effects, try using the Enchanter guy to gamble effects onto them. I've done it mostly on rare/uniques. This wand restores mana and was "Fastest" before I started upgrading, and it was only 22 DPS originally:
DPS went up and tons of new effects, sockets etc.
Since it's in my alternate weapon I usually bubble up my shield and blow the piss out of the enemies with AOEs/missiles, then use the wand when I'm running back to regain mana. The pet has a summon for zombies.
BTW if you SHIFT click an item, your pet will go fetch it.
How does the poison, fire, ice, and electrical stuff work? Are certain baddies vulnerable to certain things?
Yes, it says what they are resistant or immune to under their names. Later in the game you run into more and more of this.
Just got this game. Figured even if the game is disappointing, for 9$ its not too bad. But the game is very decent. I like how i can play it on my netbook with no lag at all. Stats can be save and get transfer on other computer after reinstalling game. Looking forward to there MMO version of this game.
