My rear tires are done.. but my front tires still have pretty decent tread.. can i mix/match tires?
I heard only AWD cars need all 4 switched at once..

I've done both, but not lately. The trouble is you spend the money on two new tires and the reduced tread on the other two make the new tires wear faster. I'd get all new, or head to the junkyard and buy some decent used tires. I've gotten shit that looked brand new for 10 bucks a tire.

I'm riding on Toyo's. Less than a year after my 1st set I had a side wall puncture and had to replace the tire but Toyo discontinued my tread design. I put the new tires on the back and then rotated them about 3K miles later. I've had no problems sticking on the road at all. I do honestly wish I had 4 matched treads on my Maggie but in reality.....unless you're doing some wet high speed racing, you should be fine man.

This, Most places save tires if they're still useable, (Mainly the smaller shops)

I haven't bought new tires in a long time....

Just make sure that none of those used but new looking tires are old rubber.
