I've heard theories that obese people are a huge drain on our economies. The amount of money we'd supposedly save if these people didn't drive, fly, wear clothes, eat, breathe, go to the doctor, etc, etc is supposed to be substantial. Apparently airlines alone would save millions if they didn't allow obese people on-board.

I wonder how true it is.

Ooookay. I work in healthcare, so I can confirm that it's all true. Well, it is for Canada, because the health system is public.

In a system in which fatties gotta pay for their care, well... just pay if you self-destruct.

So.. for example, if you eat well and exercise, we all know that you arent immune to diseases such as cancer, diabetes, stroke, depression, etc. But your chances to consult a MD for these are low.

Obesity is strongly related with many or all the aforementionned problems. And older fatties usually develop more than one. It's more meds, operations, interviews that could be dispensed to the less lucky that have healthy habits.

But since weight problems also fuels parts of the economy, the government must be prudent.

I read an article not long ago that some were thinking that the obesity epidemic here in the Unites States might actually save Social Security, because a significantly lower percentage would live long enough to retire! :D

I disagree, there's no reason anyone should be unhealthy like that, especially obese. The gains we could have from a healthy society would have to outweigh what little gains (obviously we're talking money here, it's always money) we could get from fat people.

But in the end, if you're overweight or obese it's your fault and your fault alone and we clearly can't stop people from 'living' their lives. Society can influence change though!

Well, after the wedding we went to the Motel 6 (we live in a small town, thats all there was)
and it was on. We quickly undressed and got right down to business. I had to be careful, as she was a virgin and it was quite painful for her. I managed to get in there after a few minutes of trying. I only lasted about 2 minutes, but it was amazing. The best part was when we both orgasmed at the same time. I cried for a little while afterward, it was just so beautiful.

I thought about that too at first but I think he just worded it weird....or this is fake.

How dare you talk about my wife like that, you are lucky I am in the military and am considered a deadly weapon or I would fight you in her honor. As for children we have one on the way now, which is why I married her. She is upset about losing her figure but I still think she looks great.

    You make the call.

Of course, we all disagree. But that's not the point.

If the government implement a vast array of severe laws to regulate unhealthy behavior (smoking, bad food, etc), the targeted companies will shut down their support for the government, they will lobby, etc.

That's why changes are done progressively. Do you realize the time passed to implement something as simple as the trans fat ban? Companies were not happy, but now they comply.

Now imagine if we change it all at once... These companies could go bankrupt and worsen the economic situation.

    But bottom line... fuck fatties??!!?

not all fat people are because they eat a lot and don't exercise. Some have a disease. My now ex-g/f both started eating right and going to the gym at the same time as me. I have lost 85 pounds. She has lost 5...FIVE. But she has a form of PCOS (look it up), which makes it very difficult to lose weight, no matter how hard you try.

I would say that a lot of overweight people, though, are because they simply eat like shit and don't exercise. Let's just not lump ALL fat people into that category.

not like the food manufacturer's help things with trans fats and high fructose corn syrup in EVERYTHING. Luckily trans fats have gone away. I hope corn syrup is next.

By looking at that chick in this post, she has PCOS. she is extremely obese and is losing her hair (poor girl is only 25....). Those are two symptoms of PCOS. Ya, I know she happens to be ugly anyways but it may not be all her fault. We'll never know. cut her some slack, she could be the greatest person on earth for all we know.

i know i'm kinda sucking the fun out of the thread but i guess it's just easy to make fun of people from afar when you know nothing about them and how they got that way.

Well, if you read my posts well, it's implied that some ppl are unlucky and suffer from a condition.

The fatties I talked about are the ones that doesn't take care of themselves.

But this behavior is highly related to mental problems (food addiction, "eating their emotions").

So basically, instead of getting rid of them, the state could enlist them in psychological help programs, paid with government funds that comes from the money that would be given as subventions or tax exemptions to unhealthy companies.

ya if these people could get free help, that's fantastic. the fact of the matter is, i'd like to see you continue to bust your ass every day at the gym and eat healthy and not lose any weight at all. i cannot fathom how depressing it would be if that was the case for me. hell, i felt it took long enough to lose 85 pounds lol. in reality i have no room to talk when some people just can't lose it no matter how hard they try. i can tell you that I doubt I'd be strong enough to continue excersising as hard and eating healthy if it wasn't doing anything (and i doubt many could).

and again, just because they had a twinkie cake at their wedding doesn't mean anything. i don't know this person at all so i cannot say how it is. For all we know, she does workout and eat healthy. every person deserves to splurge a bit, especially on an occation like a wedding. I know if I get married in the future, I think I might allow myself to enjoy it a bit with some food.

i'm just using this gal as an example. she could be doing all the rights things and just can't lose weight. or maybe she is just a bum who is lazy and over eats. it doesn't matter. none of us know that person and I just laugh at the MILLIONS of views and probably thousands of people that that thread got making fun of this girl, not to mention it has been mentioned on many other forums (including this one). are we all really that bored that we are wasting our time making fun of someone like this? it was good for a quick chuckle but let's get over it already. We don't know her.

i'm not saying their isn't an obesity problem in this country. their damn well is. it's so easy to become fat. when i was in high school, I was the same height i was now (6'6") but i weighed like 150 pounds. just this past February, I hit the 300 pound mark. this was 6 years away from high school. why did I become fat? well, i was going to college and working full time. i didn't have time to keep active or watch what i ate. i got a couple hours of sleep a night. i just did what I could to get through college and work. i work in the computer industry so a lot of it is sitting around. that doesn't help. i have a little bit more time now. but i really didn't know how bad it was until i saw 300 on that scale and said that I had to make a change. and I did. it wasn't easy but I did it. I go to the gym every day and eat pretty healthy. I'm down to 215, which is a healthy weight for someone my height.

My point being, is that it's so so easy to get lost in the "game of life" and one day, you wake up and you're fat. not everybody has the luxury of being able to eat whatever they want and stay skinny. some people just don't have the time (blame america for being one of the most overworked countries in the world) or they have some sort of disease. and it just becomes a downward spiral that is difficult to get out of, some people never do.

so let's show some respect for our fellow man/women. unless you personally know she is a waste of space, let's move on to another topic, then making fun of someone from afar.

I come from a "fat" family. I'm the smallest person in my family, the runt by a large margin, and I weight 240 pounds. And I eat right and exercise like crazy. Five of my immediate relatives have gotten gastric bypass surgery. I've got lots of thin friends who eat more than I do, a lot worse than I do, and don't exercise at all...

So I get what you're saying Chainblade. Some people just are genetically predisposed to being thin, and some aren't. But the magnitude of fat in these photos goes well beyond a slow metabolism or genetic condition. These bitches are just gluttonous pigs, plain and simple.
