Nah, it's trolling. He's like the dude with the ponytail in the bar in good will hunting. The next book he reads will redefine his whole outlook on life.

Didn't Eavanr mention he was Canadian at some point? If so, seem's kind of ridiculous to troll another country's political issues.

Don't bother his purview is obviously limited to whatever is being shoved down his throat by [insert influential person in his life here].

I wasn't aware there was only one school of economic theory, practice, and policy. I guess I really need to narrow my world view and just accept what is shoved in my face. ...OR(!!!), I could keep doing what I am doing and research every viable option. I think I'll stick with door number 2 Chuck.

That's a good point. But in looking from the outside in you need to realize how much American politics matter for Canadians. You're the world's super power, 10x the size of us, our largest trading partner, and our only neighbour. There is an old expression, that living like next to the United States is like a mouse living next to an elephant, the smallest shift can completely change our lives. This year, when I was watching our country's leaders debate for our national election, I found myself constantly flipping to the Palin/Biden debate. I, and many other Canadians did this because America has such a profound effect on my life.

So I don't think it is fair to say I am inappropriately trolling America politics.

As for Joker, if you can recommend some convincing evidence to change my mind, about anything, please do so. I never ever said there is one definitive economic theory.
I offered you plenty of instances of different perspectives 'i.e. how the Washington consensus is important' and you have rejected them out of hand.

Who here do you think is being more ignorant?

Eavanr does have a point about how our politics affect our northern neighbors. Someday soon, that may not be the case as it is today. Personally, i'd like to see the USa get knocked down a few notches. The humble nature from past decades have dissappeared and arrogance and extravagance have taken it's place. The USA wastes more resources than all other countrie (combined) use. I hope when we get knocked off our highhorse, that it doesn't create a detrimental situation for anyone but us. We will get reduced to a humble demeanor eventually, it's inevitable seeing as how there is no way on Earth to continue an unsustainable lifestyle indefinately. Sooner or later a house of cards must fall.

Not in my mind. The "reset" of this once great nation may be the only thing that can save her.
And that means ASAP to me too. You ever start to wonder if maybe there's something valid about the upcoming day 12-21-'12? It almost seems to me. That there's a wreckless abandon happening in high places and they/them know something and have made preps and no longer care what happens to the rest? Wild scenario, I know, that would explain a few things in a hollywood sort of way.

Just to add an opinion from my brother in law. He's a pediatrician over on MSP's side of town - He said if the government controls health care it will ten times the disaster it is now. His office applied for the h1n1 vaccine and received it late and only received 100 shots for the entire practice.

I can't remember all of the steps he said they had to take to even be able to provide the shots but he did say there were many layers of government and paperwork (IIRC, they applied for the shots, expected date goes by, gov't says you didn't fill out your tps report, dr office says they did, delay ensues).

In the end, and no surprise, they screwed up the date they should have received the shots and the amount of shots with lots of angry patients.
