If you have a lot of time and hate sandwiches. Grease works better. First or second strike pops the bearing out usually. Ot just get a pilot bearing puller. LOL
Been there, done that. Bread is a shit ton less messy. No clean up at all. when the bearing popped out, the compressed bread came out with it. Maybe luck? It was even easier than my bearing puller that's collecting dust in the shop. Probably took 6 whacks with the big ball peen and 3 charges of bread. It was even fun enough for shitzengiggles.
