LOL....isn't that the truth!
They beat that raccoon up!
KATY TRAIL (someone get the limestone dust out of my hair and ears and eyes and skin and bike...) Other forum people involved...
you need an orange shirt to goofus!!
How often has the helmet been needed?
The Katy trail in that neck of the woods is also former RR track bed?
So far, all my falls have been taken by knees and elbows.
catapults....how do they work!??
Here's some flame-bait!
I've also discovered that I have Flickr, since I have a Yahoo account since forever. I can't believe I only just discovered this.
Also, I think I'm going to stop using raws as much. The time it takes to denoise some of the darker images or images taken on hot days, isn't worth the effort, when it comes to the quality of the final image. Also, saving raws is really time-consuming, and my camera is slow enough already!
Flickr BBCode ensues: (Drawback is that you have to right-click/view image, to see the full size version. You can ALMOST see the bikini-babe taking our picture, reflected in those blue sunglasses.) From left to right, my Specialized Crossroads, some recument or other, a Windsor Tourist, and Surly Long-Haul Trucker.

A well-lubricated engine there.
I'm conducting an experiment, and wish feedback. As soon as I mentioned my cutback from using RAWs, CHDK put version 1.2 into RC status, so now I'm using that. It makes DNG raws at almost the same speed as the sensor-dump raws. This simplifies raw conversions no end, but finding the right sharpening numbers is still a pain in the keester. Then again, getting rid of the ... excess colorfulness... in the JPEG images, so that the greens aren't quite so radioactively glowing, is a bit of a pain as well.
Thus, here is an image side by side of the JPEG and the RAW. Tell me which one is better, and is one ENOUGH better to warrant all the extra effort. Edit: My model is evidently a Song Sparrow. I'd like to thank him for posing for me.
definitely the RAW image.
The only reason to not shoot RAW is if you need something shot at high speed and your camera can't handle the capture fast enough. Look at those images, name the garage door and the leaves of the bush. Note how much more colour detail there is in the RAW. PLUS, say you fuck up your exposure settings, that shit is easy to fix with a RAW image.
Ugh. I was feeling masochistic, so I stitched two wildly mismatched photos together not so successfully, the smallpox memorial is noticeably leaning to the left, in all it's 5752x2188 glory. You have to right-click and select "view image" to see it full-sized...

My friend posted this picture on FB from South Dakota:
and I took these today volunteering at a local farm packing CSA shipments:
That's some mighty fine eatin' right there (all pics)
Argh! Somebody stop me!! Another Panorama. I paid attention, so this one went together easier. I wanted to make it even longer, but my computer ran out of memory, and started going slow, so I stopped... 30 minutes ago. It took that long to finish finishing! Ugh.
Anyhow, here is the fruit of my loins... er... labor... Remember, right click view image to see this monster full sized.
