Work rained out? No problem! Perfect opportunity to collect rain water and harvest string beans. I need to get some rubbermaid garbage cans so I can collect 200+ gallons like my bro does.

Oh yeah, I got my first taste of tomato yesterday. It was a little under ripe, but I couldn't wait any longer. :p I'm not crazy about cherry tomatoes, but those Sungold cherries are amazing. Orange tomatoes = low acid = deliciously sweet candy.

Awesome beans and tomatoes. good job. The best growing thing I have are weeds.
Between a bad growing season, weeds, gophers, deer and no humidity, my garden sux balz this season. The tomatoes aren't even starting to turn color yet but there appear to be bunches of them.
I may be putting venison in the freezer instead of green beans this year. they are jumping a 6' fence and eating everything. The rifle is ready and there's a sidearm sitting right next to me
ready to squeeze one off at the drop of a hat.

Green tomatoes beg for the frying pan, flour with a touch of salt and pepper, and some ketchup/catsup and/or mustard... Crispy on the outside, and melty on the inside. Fried Green Tomatoes are the best!

I almost look forward to fried green tomatoes at the first frost.

Mmm yeah, but I don't think that's the way they're usually prepared. They deserve a dredging and breading in corn meal a la fried okra. At least that's how I make them.

Delicious, but nothing beats fresh, in season backyard garden tomatoes. Speaking of which, I just picked these two books up. If you're into agriculture and the politics and science behind it, I'd recommend these two:

The film adaptation of Botany is pretty good too. Then you have to follow it up with Food Inc and King Corn and then swear off meat and any sort of fast food for the next few weeks.

I've been off of fast food for so long, that when I do put some in my body, it physically makes me sick. The same goes with any processed foods from the chemical store.

I've heard that catnip makes a better mosquito repellent than DEET... though having your skin carpeted with cats may be a deleterious side effect.

I'm bored. I've been sidelined from cycling, since I broke a spoke in the rear wheel. Now I have to wait for the wheel to be respoked, retrued, repacked with grease, and returned.

That crap grows wild everywhere around here. I'm always walking around in it. The cats get high by sniffing my shoes.

Nope. I even suggested to Dan that we could use a subreddit as someplace to migrate to if he shuts this place down.
