I've had it run on XP, but havent tried vista. That was THE game that got me interested in gaming though. So good.
I actually threw up my hands and walked away from Daggerfall because of all the bugs and crashes. Once I finish the Morrowind expansion packs I may experiment with getting it running on my laptop. Maybe a DOS boot disc or something.
I might switch mine to Oblivion if I can include all the expansion packs. I finally feel that I have totally and thoroughly explored the Oblivion landscape. Now I am going to play Knights of the Nine and then Shivering Isles.
I have a few old games (win 95) that I'll never throw out. But the game with the best replay, I'll have to say halflife. all the mods available and the story, cannot be tossed. I really wish that valve would re-make it with the HL2 engine.
The official version wasn't that great tbh, seemed like they spent very little time on it and you had to look quite carefully at times to see any real differences. If Black Mesa Source ever gets released it should be worth a look.
Jumping in now I'm not sure I would enjoy it nearly as much. I played the hell out of Morrowind too, and Oblivion was recently reinstalled too. And after those, I doubt it'd wow me like it did originally. But when I was young, it was the first immersive game i played. It blew my mind that I could do basically anything (you could even scale walls, handy for getting onto roofs and attacking guards with arrows). And also all the events that would happen, and all the diversity between the cities, the size. One of the most memorable times with that game was early on, walking through the city of Daggerfall on a foggy day and all of a sudden walking down and alley and seeing a fire breather (street performer). At the time I was just stunned. I'm sure if it happened now, I wouldn't even think twice though when I saw the 2D model and the shitty flame sprites That was probably the moment that defined that I would never be a jock. I guess part of it also spawns from the fact that before I played games, I watched my dad play basically all of Ultima Underworld over his shoulder.
I dunno, I have a buddy that has played all the Elder Scroll games and Daggerfall is still his favorite.
Toss up between FSX and UT 2004. FSX doesn't end and flying's just cool. UT 2004 offers ONS, TAM, CTF, and iBR.
No, COD6. They have 2 teams, one that makes good games and one that makes shitty games. Team 2 is working on COD5. They also made COD3 which was crap.
As many people as there are that want Halo to take their ass virginity from them, I am surprised no one mentioned it.
Any of the Madden series except 06 and 08. This recent version frustrates me because all of the LBs and DBs dropping into coverage have jetpacks like Boba Fett
Any of you using ports for old games? Some of them seem to turn these old games into something almost new. For Doom, I've switched from using Doom Legacy to a new port called Risen3D, which can use high-def textures and patches. The game looks really good, though I don't use the less-than-stellar md2 models, preferring the sprites instead. For Duke3D, I use eDuke32 along with the High Resolution Pack. The md2 models for this one are not half bad at all, and the high-res textures look very good. No more pixellated pictures! eDuke is still being updated, as well. The latest update was 4-01-08! I've not searched lately, so the latest port for Quake I've used is the tenebrae port.
It's a three way tie between: Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Fallout series (can't pick just one) and Starcraft
