add this to the mix:
This situation is the last thing our troops need to deal with. It's bad enough they have the throwbacks over there going after them each day but then they have to face our crud leadership going after them, like they have on other occasions. I see no good intentions in this resolution at all and let's keep in mind that the lawmakers most recently took up the most important issue this year (sarcasm) and condemned Rush Limbaugh, with at least 40 signing the letter. I hate to be so negative about our elected officials, but they make it nearly impossible to be positive with the crud they pull. I wonder how low their approval rating can go, 5%, 3% maybe, they certainly seem on track with these home runs.
ROFL! We'll keep this thread alive and just tag the Thanksgiving stuff on at the end.
I get the same feeling lately. It seems like the current US administration is doing everything it can to draw lines in the sand and make new enemies.
FYI, the Bush administration was staunchly against this resolution.
Wasn't that nasty dyke Condoleeza Rice the one that fueled this?
Nope, it was started by the House Democracts, particularly Nanci Pelosi who has a large Armenian American population in her home district of San Fransisco.
The Armenian-American lobbies have been trying to have a resolution similar to this passed for years, but the Republicans never let it come up in the Committees as the House majority party controls the agenda of committee meetings where bills start.
Once the majority switched to the Democrats, the committee allowed the bill to be introduced in committee.
Condi Rice, as well as the rest of the Administration and most Republicans were as critical of the resolution as the Turkish government.
"Undersecretary of State Nick Burns said Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice would call the Turkish leadership Thursday to express "deep disappointment" with the vote."

Man, that part of the world just plain sucks.
Well, if the climate is shifting, maybe they'll turn all lush and green, when the eastern USA turns to dessert. Then maybe, just maybe they'll enjoy living as we do......................not.
