Yeah, not sure what my nephews use but they swap music like crazy with some application they actually store on the iPod itself. They run it on the host computer, upload all the music they want, and move on to the next computer. Makes Uncle Ryan proud...

Well, the one I used was Ipod Util. It lets you rip all the music off of any ipod. My gf and I both use our Ipods on my PC and it works fine though. I just created a playlist for each of us and set each ipod to only sync playlists, not the whole library.

First of all, it's not Apple, its the RIAA. They wanted copy protection with the iTunes store and thus you can't share your purchased music.

    Second, Google is your friend.

Itunes actually lets you use multiple PC's to sync to an ipod. Change itunes from running in Automatic mode, and switch it over to manual.

    Using iPod with multiple computers

Other DRM solutions aren't designed around filling a portable hard drive either.

Did you read the letter Jobs posted about iTunes selling DRM free media?

Once again, it's not Apple's choice.

I havent bought anything off of iTunes, and I have no intention of doing it.

I have a library that is full of MP3's and they are the exact same MP3's that were on my computer before I formatted and it had to erase them off the ipod and rewrite them.

But, the original thought behind the iPod was to consolidate all the music you already licensed in CD form. Then they added the option to purchase music online and the consolation to that was for them to lock down the ability to share your 10/20/40/now 160 gbs of music with your friends at the connection of a firewire cable.
