HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...that's awesome. I'm glad I'm married...my wife can bitch and complain all she wants about me playing the game at whatever hours...NOTHING she can do about it.
Got home from my vacation and played threw all the placement matches last sunday. I'm pretty sure they were all complete noobs and I won all the placement matches. They put me in the gold league and now I can't even get close to winning. Like they harass me down and destroy my base iin under 5 minutes. Bah, gonna take a good string of like 20 losses to get down to where I should be.
I can rush build zealots and it works good against toss and zerg, but terran...I try to turtle somewhat against. I'm silver league for 2v2 and copper for 1v1. I find 1v1 works best for me right now because I only have myself to blame. 2v2..."I'm gonna mass...." and they get shit hauled.
I lost my way into silver last night and it seems like that is where I belong. Played 4 games there and they were all pretty even. So is your new upgrade directly related to starcraft 2? How does it perform on your old system? My computer is all about 3 years old and it plays flawlessly.
SCII was one of the main reasons. Diablo III might be the other. But my computer has some overheating issues, which the new computer will resolve, PLUS...I stayed on the AGP/Socket 478 train long enough and got out of this machine what I could. 5 or 6 years of use isn't bad in my books. As for how SCII plays. I play at 1440x900 with graphics setting at LOW, and I've got an uber internet connection, and I'm still slowing down most of the online games I play! So none of the cool effects, shadowing, etc.. It looks good, but pretty bland compared to games I've watched at my buddies or my little bro's. And funny enough, I'm picking up my upgrade at Memory Express in Calgary next week. YAY NO PST. And I'll be playing SCII by next Saturday on teh new computer.
The NW shop is moving too a new location any day now. You might want to try the north east or south locations. Or at least call ahead to the NW too make sure they stuff you want isn't all packed in boxes already. Also they will give you a OEM copy of Windows 7 Home for like $100 if you ask. They aren't real keen on advertising that they sell OEM though.
Well...my office is in the NE I think (off of Barlow on Sundridge). And I figured in OEM Home Premium in my price (it was on the site).

Ya I haven't played with anyone I know yet. I have you, Mince, Jishory and a couple of my buddies on my list and I never catch anyone online. Back in 1v1 silver now and feeling much more comfortable than the first time I was here. Also tried a bit of 2v2 last night. Interesting but way more chaotic than 1v1.

I think I'm well on my way to silver 1v1 this time around. First two matches I played on Sunday morning, against the same guy. First round, he tried to peon rush me. He had the start-off peons (protoss) and by the time he came into my base, I had my full 10...focus fired on his peons, beat him to a pulp, and was already on my way to building my first gateway. He quit. Second game, same guy. Realized who he was playing, and quit. LOL As for 2v2...1-1 in placement right now.
So...I just played my last two placement matches this morning for 1v1...too funny. Did toss cannon rush. Smoked the first guy in little to no time at all (3 minutes for the match). The next guy had a little bit more gumption, but still managed to spam him. I think I have it down to a science now. Cannon rush terran...or at least get some kind of spam into his base early because as soon as that front door is locked...damned. So I was 4-1 in placements I think...plat league.
Good luck with the platinum. I threw a few of my placement matches this time so I wouldn't be ranked high. Was in Bronze originally and worked my way up to gold now. Your Cannon rush kung fu is strong but my m&m kung fu is stronger! We really need to get online at the same time.
I know. My problem is that I get on for MAYBE an hour a night, sometimes early mornings, and then for sure the mornings on the weekends (when the kids are watching toons).
I'll be on this weekend plenty but during the week is pretty much out of the picture. Have you guys used voice chat yet? I ordered a mic and can't wait to try it during a game.
haven't tried it yet but my budy that got me in the beta is back from thailand this weekend so we might do some 2v2, seems like a good time to try it
I have a bluetooth headset and no...haven't tried the voicechat. The rumors, though, is that you're better off using vent or something else.
The beta is back up and I think it is open now. There were 875,000 people playing yesterday when I was on.
