no you have do switch back 1.5 by holding right shoulder button while psp boots up. no theres not downgrade yet for 3.xx yet but they think by frb there will be so dont upgrade anymore
Hey gog I just tried playing a umd iso and it worked without having to downgrade!! At first it would try to play it but it would give me an error message, I then tried putting in a umd that I had laying around and ran it again and it booted into the iso game just fine!!
You still need the 1.5 firmware. Basically with the 1.5fw you are able to install a hacked 3.02 firmware. This 3.02 fw allows you to play psx games as well as umd iso's. Unfortunately you will have to wait untill your particular firmware is hacked and a downgrader is available for it. If I hear about it I'll post a link to it.
There, that's my PSP purchased. £127 (about $250) for a 1.5fw with 3 games, one UMD and a 2gig memory stick. Not bad eh? It shall arrive on tuesday as the guy has promised to post first thing tomorrow. The games and UMD can be traded in to go towads probably another memory stick. Anyway, thanks alot Gog, you've given me everything I need (I think). Although, still no word on how to run SNES and Mega Drive emulators. Or is this not possible and what I heard was bullshit?
Gog you should write a detailed guide to doing this, something with alot of detail, I'm sure that dan would post it on the site. Would be a great help to the newbies. The worst thing is when your new to this shit, and you goto the psp forums and they all tell you to fuck off, even though there is no step by step guide.
How do I dump games? I found this tutorial but I don't quite understand it. PSP-Hacks.com / Dumping a UMD Tutorial When I put fastloader in psp\game\fastloader and pspgame\game\fastloader% All I get is corrupted icons and I have no option of running anything.
Ok my PSP has arrived, it's 1.5, I've put 3.02-oeb on it and I've nabbed a few games to test it out on. But I'm fucked if I can find where to buy Hot Shots Golf 2! Link please anyone? I can't move on this until I get this game for it's apparantly essential files. EDIT - I have found Mega Drive and SNES emulators, installed them on the PSP and loaded on a couple of ROMs for each one. They don't work though! The emulators show up on my menu but when I click on them I get some error message. Any help? SECOND EDIT - Got the SNES and Mega Drive emulators working, don't worry! THRID EDIT (for fuck sake!) - Got emulated PS1 games going now too! Didn't need that golf game after all. Everything's cool now! Haven't tried a proper PSP game yet though, currently don't have the hard drive space to download one.
I definately need to give this a shot in the next few weeks. I'm pretty sure my PSP is still at 2.60, so hopefully the downgrader to 1.5 works. GOG, a step by step (like Brent mentioned) would be very sweet, but I'll just follow all of your posts in this thread. They seem pretty straightforward. I just went to my source for "stuff", and it looks like it has all the UMD images I could possibly want to play. How big is a UMD usually? It seems like they're all 650-700mb, meaning only 2-3 (without much of anyhing else) will fit on a 2gb memory stick at a time. Is that the case? edit: How does it handle multiple cd games? I wanted to put Metal Gear solid on there, but its 2 discs, so I'm not too sure how it would work. I;m assuming I convert the ISO of each CD into a pbp file, and then copy them into the proper directores on the psp.. how does the psp know when to switch to the 2nd iso?
For those that care, I recently purchased a 4GB card from newegg and it works perfect!! I got the sandisk one (there are two but I don't know what the differences are). Newegg.com - Once You Know, You Newegg
