From military prospect, i dont see any thing wrong with it. Its just means to and end. Using any tool that get the job done, and can be discarded or discredited to avoid any major backlash.

As a corporation, what would that end be? Do you wonder why Bin Laden hasn't been killed or captured yet?

You are right though, it is a means to an end, the problem is that the governments definition of the end is different than blackwater's (which is to continue getting paid).

Again, I'd agree with you, if the job actually got done.

Ah yes, let's give the government enough power so that we can't hold them accountable. I don't know about you but that scares the hell out of me!

Nahh. Its simple, some resources are worth more alive to us then dead. You dont think we can do the strikes we do in Pakistan without any heads up, if we didnt have him to hide behind. There are few more benefits with that, the strikes are not just physical but also psychological on there general public. Which allowed us to expand/build a new huge building we just built in Islamabad, that support about 1000ish troops of ours.

You believe blackwater is a new form of business? Hahahahahaha. Mercs have been around forever! Our Guv has employed them forever. It's as demon said: " a means to an end" and one that has plausible deniability built into it.

It reminded me of Displace on Splinter Cell =P

So i went and played, Because killing mercs is a good past time.

All in all it can work if they dont sit there and farm money off the gov and actually went out and did something. A bunch of ex navy seals trained by a private company to an even further extent could be really effective. Which is why we still hire mercenarys.

Never mind. I let myself get carried away. It just upsets me that accountability seems almost nonexistent for these people, but I guess that's the point of such operations.

I would just like to point out that Blackwater continues to be funded under the Obama administration, just saying.

Their contract was extended before he got into office until 2011.

Even still though, if Obama continued to fund them it doesn't make it right.

These kind of companies that are in business of providing protection to high level individuals. There's no easy way to take them down. They have senators and congressmen in there pockets. There is so much competition in that business. That they spend great deal of money to buy the loyalty of the big shots.

These companies are like cancer cells. Flowing within the system and infecting every one they think will be helpful in furthering there profits.

A lot of them are former CIA officials and of course they still have their ties to people on the inside.

    Conflict of interest? Most definitely!

    blackwater is nuts.

IIRC blackwater was the only people who ever killed people connected with our operations over my last deployment to Iraq. We had our hands tied so much that we couldn' even search random cars anymore. couldn't enter private homes without being accompanied by Iraqi Police/Army.

Blackwater, though, doesn't play by our rulebook. And most of the time no one ever knows how or what happened...

I think they're an asset. I hold my belief in them on the same principle as I do believe that men going in and out of jail, bailed out, plea bargained, for henous acts to include murder, top-tier drug running... I think those fuckers should burn in a sense. So, when we come acoss a guy we KNOW is well connected in the Taliban, or other Muslim Extremists, but for some reason we cant catch him at the right place/right time. It's nice to have an organization like Blackwater step in and cut out all the foreplay, and also the risk of endangering American lives.

I heard Blackwater is hurting for diesel mechanics... I would love to apply for them. But I don't think I'd pass background investigation. At least, I didn't qualify for my secret clearance because of my drug use... I should have never admited to using marijuana...

There are many other government contractors looking for good diesel mechanics even before Blackwater... look around. Some are not even in the middle east but on ships everywhere.
