I've got this page open all day:

    http://gameslayer.org/skyrim/

So any deals on where to buy this? Otherwise I was just going to grab it on Steam.

I've been itching for something to buy, something to do in my spare time. This game was on the list, but...I didn't mind Oblivion, but it got blah after awhile.

    I guess the search continues...

Pre-ordered on Steam and started playing. Went right into my old Oblivion habits and started stealing everything I could find, then got my ass kicked by a swarm of guards after trying to free a prisoner.

I have an older system and am playing with medium graphics settings and it's running 30 fps or higher and its beautiful!

Nah, there's no linear plot or story items that you'd miss. And the gameplay is very approachable. Just picked up my copy at Target, got the last one. Walmart was already sold out and a line of people standing there asking for it...

I am very jealous of your map. I bought it on steam last night so I could play early.

I only got to play a couple hours last night, but it was pretty fucking rad!

Runs pretty great on my 4 year old q6600 GTX260 build. I'm using a modified "high" setting with even more turned on, 1080p etc.

^^^ Yep. The graphics are WAY better than Oblivion, but somehow the game engine is able to scale well. Looks absolutely amazing on my Sandybridge/ATI 6870 rig. Particularly the flow of water, air, snow. The game installer selected high detail automatically for me and it's smooth as butter, no shudder/judder at all.

I was just about to complain a little how powerful my character seemed to be from the beginning. I was mowing characters and monsters down pretty recklessly, thought the play balance was screwed up. But I've leveled up to level 5 and the new monsters are whooping my ass!

I picked it up today (for the PS3). Love that map. Haven't started playing yet. I assume I'm going to spend the first 2 hours just creating a character.

The two handed spell/combat system made me nervous when it was first demoed, but it's working out beautifully. Particularly running the same spell in both hands and then doubling up some lightening bolt whoop-ass!

Also awesome is the leveling system. Rather than just mindlessly increasing a number for more power/levels, the leveling is branched so you can tailor what skills you're shooting for. Totally customizable.

Another plus? Acrobatics is no longer a skill. So no more jumping all over the place to level up.

Just bought this, ICO (PS3) COD (360) and the new Elder Scrolls (PC) for my son's birthday. The latest Assassin's Creed isn't out yet.

Another thing that I noticed, it would appear they got all new voice talent for this. With Oblivion I recognized a lot of the voice actors from Morrowind and it's expansion packs. So far I don't recognize any voices.

3 and a half hours sleep the night of release, 5 the next. I would say I'm losing a bit of sleep.

So far I'm not losing any sleep. Even took the morning off to brew some beer. I'm going to take my time and savor this game.

I felt the same way, and ditto for Fallout 3. The TV commercials looked so good for that one-- won't fall for that again. Must not be my cup o' tea. The dragon scenes look pretty damn awesome, though. That said, I had a lot of fun playing the first Dungeon Siege game way back when, but didn't finish it.

Lots of mods already popping up. I've been having fun luring dragons to towns and watching the aftermath.

Anybody experience the bug where a giant kills you and you go flying way up into the clouds?

A bunch of BF3 and MW3 guys have been talking about this game. They were Elder Scrolls noobs too. Might have to check it out. I used to give my kid shit about playing nerdy ass Morrowind and Oblivion. Would be funny to have him walk in on me one night....
