So, I just got my first major film project in the can. After two 12-hour days, I have sitting on my desk $500 worth of film that I and my 5 person crew busted our asses for this weekend. I'll get it processed this week (and say goodbye to another $700-800), sync up the sound, and start the editing process, aiming for a finished product in March or April of next year.

We had some huge last minute problems (including being told less than 12 hours before our call time that we couldn't shoot at our confirmed location), but we finished ahead of schedule and at least $200 under budget. And we had a naked guy running around in a public hallway, which we had no permission for but did it anyway.

Cliff's notes: I just shot my first major film (around 8 min when it gets edited) and I feel fucking fantastic.

I'll put it up for sure... but it's gonna take awhile.

And I say "major" because before now everything was done in silent, black and white, and usually 30 seconds to a minute. This project is the first where we're sync sound, set our own locations, provide our own film and processing, and really go through the whole process as far as location scouting, filing for permits/insurance, transportation of a crew, cast, and cargo van worth of equipment, etc. I've been prepping for this since September, so finally having it shot is a huge accomplishment.

Big effin congratulations. I can't wait to see the final product.

We're in pre-production right now for a short, can't wait for the end of the quarter to see how everything turns out.

I'm sure you feel like you just came out of labor and are the proud mother of a baby boy/girl.

We used an Arri-SR with a PD-4 dat kit. Shot on Kodak Vision 2 Expression 500T, which I hear is a pretty forgiving stock (which worked v well in our favor!)

Right now I feel more like a mom after labor, but only half the kid's been born... I still have a good deal of work to do on it. But the hard part is over!

Re: The magazine... I had to have a magazine that had a coverline about revenge and surprisingly couldn't find one. So I made that one, and it's probably the best director cameo I've ever had.
