Montage of footage. Wish the government would put more money into NASA AMD space exploration. One day we may need to leave this earth.

I wondered this for a long time too, but I found out that it's because dashboard cameras are required by insurance companies in order for claims to not be denied. Insurance fraud and hit and runs are insanely common there, and the only way to hold people accountable is to have it on camera.

This means we get a lot of badass YouTube videos, at least.
    Sparky says thanks for this.

That makes perfect sense. It may happen here too. Black boxes are already factory installed and collect vehicular/highway safety data.
Is any of you guy's vehicle on the list?: http://www.harristechnical.com/downloads/cdrlist.pdf
By administrative law, you own your vehicle but do not own the data contained in any onboard DB.

It amazes me how people just carried on driving when that happened. Since I'm the kinda guy who's paranoid about asteroids hitting us, if I saw what they saw, I would've stopped my car and shit my pants.

Man, I would have loved to see this happen. Shooting stars are awesome, but to see something this close is a whole different level of awesome.

The one I saw last night streaked acrost the sky coming in from the horizon and went for 50+ degrees untill it sparked out. It was one of the longest lasting meteors I've seen. It threw off a lot of sparks but didn't explode.
