Would you rent a car or use your own if it's relatively new?

My car is a 2012 Buick Regal with 32000 miles on it.

If I rented a similar car (Chrysler 200 or equivalent) it would cost about 230 bucks for 5 days.

    What are your thoughts?

This. Plus no worries about forgetting stuff in your own car or your car sitting there for days while you're gone or dealing with the rental agency and paying extra for insurance you already have.

How many miles there and back? Many people rent because if something goes wrong they still have their car with no worries.

I would definitely drive my own car unless you're thinking yours wouldn't be reliable.

The depreciation on your car is probably tiny over the life of it and when you sell it versus the cost of a rental.

If the car would've sold for $4500 when it has 102,000 miles on it, it'll sell for $4520 when it has 100k. Or some other insignificant number but I bet it won't come close to a rental for this type of car.

It's not an ENZO. Jesus just drive it :)

It would depend on where you're going. For a visit to a big city, I'd rent and let the rental take the hit on possible vandalisms and damages. If not, I'd take my own car.

You just bought that thing! Drive, drive, drive. I'd be ecstatic to take my brand new car on a road trip. The mileage you put on is not going to make any difference in the long run.
    Sparky says thanks for this.

I sat here for a minute trying to figure out if I was misreading the question. The idea of renting a car when you have a car is completely beyond my ability to understand.

I shall retire to my cave now.

I ended up using my car. I had to replace the windshield because I got stuck behind a truck (even from a distance) that was shooting tiny debris that I couldn't move out so there was about 20 small nicks everywhere. Wasn't too bad, 250 bucks to replace.

    New Orleans was awesome though!
