There's an app (jailbreaking required, methinks) that allows you to install apps on a sd card.

i read a "new" feature to 2.2 froyo is the ability to add apps to sd card.. so im assuming you cant install apps to sd card right now unless theres some root hack.
i havent looked into it yet.

i think if alot of the more "Serious" big apps have a small initial execution package stored on internal, but if theres any maps or levels to be installed, they'll be installed on the sd card. much like if you want to take a pic, theyre all automatically stored on the sd card, same with video.
right now my storage says i have 279MB internal left, and 6.49gb sd left.
im not too worried about it right now.

i'd rather my apps start from internal memory than flash anyways.. too much wear and tear on the flash card, and i dunno what speed this flash card is, but probably a bit slower than internal direct memory

With 2.2/froyo, devs can make their apps install to the sdcard as an option. Most apps don't need this, but for big games it can be a good thing. The newest phones don't have any issues with space though.

    interesting, i might buy it.
i just bought nesoid for rom emulation, didnt realize there was a free version.. but i would like to save actually... so its worth the $3-4 bucks.

i tell ya, this phone has made my life so fucking easy now. i can find a pic on the internet, tap-hold and send it via txt message in a few seconds... it even resizes them for me. You know how much trouble that wouldve been on windows mobile? oh my gahhh. Little things like that are just awesome.

and so you know torx...any paid app you want for the the android OS can be had for free through torrent sites...food for thought ;)

As I linked earlier, there is a way to use a wii classic controller which is awesome imo. Since the evo has hdmi, that means its a portable virtual console! That is of course if you don't use sense ui. :)

I say support the developers. If an app is worth using, pay for it. Remember you can return your apps for a refund within 24 hours after purchase. So if you try something and dont like it, just return it. I don't advocate piracy for things so cheap. If it was a $100 app, or more, I would understand more, but these are cheap apps/games, you should reward the developers work. It encourages them to make more apps, and then the marketplace gets better, if you just pirate everything, and everyone does the same, then the market dies, and then android dies with the market.

yea thats how i feel. if i were to pirate something i would pirate those expensive gps apps
but damn im really let down by the quality of games on this thing.. everyones got a complaint about bugs and no updates and bad graphics, etc. etc.
i hope things get better because the market is a letdown right now.

ive bought nesoid and bodybuilder so far. Bodybuilder is an almost clone of iFitness on the iphone, of which i heavily use. Its not as pretty and detailed as it, but the function is the same.

^^WHUT UUUPPPP!!!! were gonna have to try video chat sometime.

oh man, loving this fucking phone.
BUT GAHdamn, ive YET!! to find a fucking clean ads free solitaire game. How sad is that??? Theyre all either ugly as fuck, lacking features, has ad banners or buggy as hell... shit man.
I did find a good catabalt replacement though (parkour roof riders)

Ive been on a spending spree in the marketplace, everything ive bought is well worth the money except skyforce... the resolution is pathetic and not taking advantage of this beautiful screen.

i think i read there is, its spotty right now though.. you have to venture around and search for it.
theyre actually rolling out 4g in numerous different cities from what theyve claimed before evo release. lots of surprise cities getting it now already.

Yea, so im very VERY picky about what i put on my phone.. it needs to protect, it needs to have grip, it needs to be simple with no crazy designed and logos, it needs to be very low profile.

I came across the rocketfish gel/silicone case/skin for the EVO.
Best buy, $20. Heckuva lot cheaper than the other options out there.
Slipped it on and its amazingly perfect for my tastes. Rocketfish had another type of skin, but it had diagonal edges in the corners, this doesnt.

Combined with my clarivue screen protector, i think my evo is well ready for ease of handling.

PROS: Low profile, good grip, no crazy designs and colors/logos, snug fit, protects the camera. Not a hassle to take off.

CONS: The power button and volume buttons are actually covered by the gel, so its very hard to press and get response from the buttons, my idea and suggestion would be to use an xacto knife and trim it out myself. Im pretty good with an xacto so this should be a nice touchup. Glossy silicone which will show scratches and wear. Matte flat wouldve been better for the rear.

Does your battery life suck? It seems like my battery is perpetually in the red/yellow.

theres alot you need to tweak to get that battery stable.

of course turn off, gps, wifi, 4g, bt.
lower screen brightness (turn off auto brightness)
the default mail application auto downloads emails very frequently so you need to goto settings and either turn it off, or limit to every 4hrs or so. or replace it with k-9 mail.
download and use advanced task killer to kill off processes that are sucking up battery power
check your installed apps and make sure they arent still running or constantly getting your location information.
turn off vibration and tap vibration, i also personnally turn off auto correct and text prediction crap.
make sure you update your prl, profile, and firmware. having a better signal will increase your battery life.
any animated wallpaper will suck your battery down, its neat but its a novelty.
turn off auto update in the htc weather widget. and make sure auto update is turned off on any weather apps you have installed

just use ATK to kill off any running apps frequently.

i have to recharge everyday, i cant seem to keep the phone alive longer than a full day. but to be honest ive yet to put the thing down, its constantly being used and in my hand.
my battery life has gotten much better using the tweaks above.

For the long period of time you are not going to be using your Cell, you can under-clock it, probably give you even longer battery life. Over clock it when you need more power out of it. Dont have to restart the phone or any thing either.

So basically you have to totally neuter the phone. I can understand turning down the brightness but having to turn off wifi, GPS, 4G, is ridiculous. If a person can/has to turn those things on/off then why can't software be programmed to do it automatically?

some apps do.. they turn on gps , then turn off exiting..

like ive said before this phone is the new winmo.. tweaking is a must, not a type of phone for iphoners.
and alot of those features i disabled from the start because i dislike them, not because it saves battery.

lets not forget about custom roms, theres already alot of custom 2.1 roms out there that claim much better battery life!! So thats also an option if youre rooted.
Im expecting future updates from htc to address more battery saving and froyo to do as well.
