i just changed my sprint plan to everything data 450min. i dont even talk on the phone much and if i do its at night which is free.
it was mandatory to change to one of the new everything data plans with the evo.. soo.. with this plan + discount + 10 fee should be around 70. crazy how i went from a 45 bill last year to 70... sprint takin all my little money. i even postponed my giganews subscription to help pay for this bill... better be worth it i tell ya when i get the phone!!

    1. But TFT and not Amoled
    2. If it is the same camera as the incredible, it is marginally better than the n1 camera.
    3. Well 4G may be fast, but how fast? How consistently fast? How much does it effect the battery?
    4. In all the tests people have done (that I have seen), the N1's flash is actually brighter.
    5. The thing though, the N1 is capable of the same things, same cpu. So its just software differences.
    6. HDMI is cool, wont argue there.
    7. okay feature, not really needed, but okay
    8. that isn't that big of a deal with apps 2 sd. I still haven't filled it up yet.
    9. I am sure google was paid by sprint to put it out
    10. Are you missing the fact that the n1 is not locked down and can be rooted officially, or that google releases updates for it first and foremost?

At this point, if you didn't use sprint or verizon (or didnt want to) the n1 is the best option. If you want to use those, then you know what to get, the evo or the incredible.

Well, this argument is kind of pointless and I apologize for even bringing it up. The Evo fanboyism/hardon is going out of control. Both are great phones, I just think the Evo is better. We all have our own opinions and I will leave it at that.

Because I know you will give it, I want a completely honest comparison of the OS's (iphone vs android). Dont compare hardware or speed, just the OS's and maybe a couple of apps that are both platforms.

^^ yep in due time i will. i kind of peeked at whats to expect from the android marketplace and im not impressed. Its the hardware that i wanted, im just hoping the android marketplace picks up. iPhone wins as far as apps go RIGHT NOW. But i'll dig into the marketplace later, i need to calm down and just mellow out with the phone right now.

WHEEWWWWW!!! OH MY GAAHHHHHH... got up there at 1pm and JUST got home. The sprint servers were bogged to hell and back across the board (BB, sprint, radioshack, walmart) for activation, im sure you all have read about it already..
But that really didnt matter because the wait time was great sitting around and chatting with people about our obsession.
This fucking.thing.is.huge. im actually a little intimidated to tell the truth. i need to get some sleep since i gotta goto work in a couple hours but heres a pic just to let you all know i got it.

how can you say the iphone app store is better? i guess it depends on what you mean by better. the apple apps usually are of higher quality. HOWEVER, android has more different type of apps usually. it's probably a wash right now but i'd still take the android marketplace.

Android Marketplace is more open. More options. That and its only a matter of time that the same quality of apps exist on the marketplace. If you notice, more and more apps are being ported from the app store, but also new apps are being released day and date or soon after their iphone versions. Just wait until the web version of the marketplace appears, that will certainly make it the defacto app marketplace imo.

How long are you guys willing to wait?

I've been enjoying quality apps for a while now, with out the apps all I'd have is a pretty looking phone.
Back when winmo phones were top dog, it was the same thing, I had great hardware but I barely used the thing because there just weren't that many apps that piqued my interest.

Having an open market place means nothing to me if the types and quality of apps available don't appeal to me. An open market is great and I support that but other than feeling good about supporting open source, it does very little for me.

wait for what shane? there are MORE different kinds of apps on android than the iphone. in general, iphone apps are just higher quality. but like chapel is saying, that is changing. like it or not, android is growing at a faster pace than the iphone ever did. could that change if the iphone goes to other carriers? sure but until then, android is where it's at. and i'd say the only reason iphone apps are higher quality in general is that developers think they can make more money in the app store.

By different if you mean porn related then maybe otherwise you are full of crap.

Well there aren't that many porn related ones. That is definitely a misnomer.

One type of app that you wont find on the iphone are ones based around intents and replacing core functionality. Like home screen replacements. Ones to customize how icons appear. Widgets. Most of the core functionality of the phone can be replaced. If you dont like the stock sms/mms app you can use a replacement. Don't like the contacts manager, you can replace it. You can also make a different browser the stock browser, so apps open links in the new one instead. Intents opens up a lot of things apps can do. Intents are things apps can register with the os as far as what they are intended to do, like twitter, or sms, or browser, or for sharing. So a twitter app can register a sharing intent, and any app that gives the user an option to share, like through email or sms, can also get all apps registered with that intent, like a twitter app. It is quite cool imo. Something most people will never notice or know how it works, but the fact that it does, is marvelous.

this phone is the best. its going to make my life so much easier. but this thing is big, i kinda feel uncomfortable carrying it around. i need a case or something.

marketplace looks pretty decent so far, alot of these games are ported from the iphone.
Just like the iphone, its going to take me forever to go through it all.

im getting a weird slight crackling in the earpiece when listening to someone talk. dunno if its their carrier, or bad reception. I dont get the crackling when listening to a demo sound through the earpiece.. i listened to the voicemail demo woman talking and it was clear as day... but when i listen to someone talk, the sound isnt very good, even with volume up or down.

This might excite you. Use a Wiimote or datel wireless classic controller to play games in android through bt. :)

Only kink is evo has sense, so you would have to ditch sense and run a vanilla rom. Sense blocks the bt for some reason, blame htc.

is this the visual voicemail ive been missing out on? oh my shit, this is going to save me alot of hassle and time. This is just fabulous, no more calling my voicemail and going through menu systems and pressing buttons to delete shit.. the voicemail app just plays voicemails instantaneously and with the press of a button, its deleted.. i dont even have to use my password... fuck this is great.

Torx, is it true that with android or the EVO that you have a limited amount of space to install apps on? I comes with an 8GB card but can you use it for apps?
