and ALI wins the bet. Thankfully! (less than $300) $50 deposit at BB to reserve. Cant wait to get the true "jesus phone"! Post it up if you reserved! I'll be at BB EARRRRLLY in the morning waiting to pick it up. THREE MORE WEEKS!!
yes. i might consider cutting off comcast if the 4g rolls out soon enough, wifi tether to my pc, iphone, and whatever else
^sarcasm? lol. thats one of the main reasons why i loved winmo, lots of customization but after a while it gets old because you have to go through so much trouble and "hacking" my jizzball will be complete
I want it so bad but I am hesitant over the $10 per month increase which comes out to $240 over two years. Plus my Palm Pre works for me, especially with my full wireless touchstone/bluetooth setup in my car. Congrats torx, I am glad someone here is buying the best phone in the world.
thx, yea imma switch to the everything plan in hopes i still wont have to add that $10 fee, then my 23% discount should bring it down to 70-80. but i dont see the point in paying the $10 until 4g is actually in my area, in which its not right now. lots of questions i have to ask, so little answers. and the $30 tethering fee will eventually be software cracked, so no point in spending money on that...
The $10 "premium data" fee is MANDATORY, it has nothing to do with 4G. Also any discount you have will not apply to the $10 monthly fee from what I have read.
Wait, so even if you don't have 4g, you have to pay $10/mo for something that's not even in your area, or that you don't want? bs.
man I'm jealous. That phone looks awesome. I'm on the first android phone, the G1. Love android but the G1 definitely is showing its age.
Nice torx. But you wont have 2.2 for a while. While I already have it. I would venture to say that the Nexus One is the best phone because google will release software updates first for it. At least for the foreseeable future.
^^ 2.2 will be within a month or two according to updated carrier release times.. ^^ 2.2 will be released even earlier because the EVO was just rooted. someone who got their evo early at the sprint conference just rooted the phone and i bet we'll see 2.2 updates on the evo before its even released to the public on june 4th.
I was mostly joking. Though I wont buy an android phone unless its googles flagship. I also prefer tmobile, cost, coverage, and choice.
"While I already have it." i totally didnt read that!! lol, you got it running on your phone dude?!??! awesome! did you have to hack it or something?
It's available on the google servers for non rooted ne us ones, I belive. There's an article on tomshardware about it, which I would link it I weren't in my crappy iPhone.
Yeah all you need to do is download it and manually update. I have a rooted phone, so I had to use a pre-rooted version of it (but since the hacking community is rife with cool dudes that do this it didn't take but a day). Torx tbh I think you will love android for how hackable it is. winmo has nothing on it. Get ready for hacking nirvana.
man, cyanogen has even made android 2.1 available for the G1. That's freakin impressive for such an old slow phone. I haven't updated yet as my microsd card just broke but once I get my new one in, I'm going to update. People says it runs better than the 1.x series on the G1 too. That cyanogen is a genius.
I don't agree with everything said in this blog post, it is interesting none the less. I still think the N1 is the best Android phone. http://techcrunch.com/2010/05/29/htc-evo-4g/
froyo on evo already.. WHAADDDD UPPP!!!! http://gizmodo.com/5551279/android-22-froyo-ported-to-htc-evo-4g
Awesome, news. Froyo is awesome. the Evo is a great phone, but I will continue to say this, the N1 is the best phone.
What makes the N1 better? As far as I see it, the Evo has these things over the N1: 1. Bigger screen 2. Better camera and extra camera in front for video chat (which will be something that will work out of the box with included software) 3. 4G - yeah its not everywhere but it is the latest and greatest in cell phone technology 4. Dual LED flash (I think the N1 has a single LED), this helps since camera phones suck in low light situations. 5. Better video recording quality/resolution 6. HDMI out which can play 720p content to any HDMI TV. This sounds like a killer feature. I can load up a bunch of h264 movies on my phone and take it to a friends house, plug my phone into his TV and BAM, movie night. 7. Kick stand - neat feature 8. 1GB of system memory vs 512mb. Yeah yeah most people just use the memory card slot of this shit but the Evo one ups the N1 here so it counts as quantifiable reason. 9. Google gave all of this years I/O attendees an Evo 4G, was the Nexus 1 not good enough? LOL, I kid. 10. can't think of anything else but I am sure I am missing something. I don't have either phone but if I were to buy a new Android powered phone right now (or June 4th, whatever) I would be the biggest idiot to choose the N1 over the Evo 4G looking at the above reasons. EDIT: I am taking that review from an iphone fanboy with a grain of salt. I learned all I needed to from the engadget review.
