well i read some things online and it said you need a 55 bit torx to get the rear seat off, but i took the bolts off and noting would budge.

check if you have to take out the seat bottom or not, i think you do on neons. (its been about 2 years since i've done stereo install)

if you have to remove the bottom, its usually just 2 hooks facing forward, push the bottom in towards the back and then lift up, it'll unlatch and come out

for the back, usually you have to take off the seatbelt bolts, the seat back will have U shaped pieces that go under them

after that, there will either be screws, or those plastic thingies (likely) holding the rear deck on. be careful with the plastic things, you are best off removing them with some sort of V shaped tool rather than a screw driver. they make panel poppers specifically for this. just go around loosening each side until its out enough to yank it out. you may have to remove your rear pillars too, i think they just yank off on the neons. check to see if you need to mess with the 3rd taillight (i dunno where it is on that car.) then just pull the rear deck off.

  10. NOTE: I suggest never buying Haynes if Clymer or Chilton's is available. Haynes is terrible. My car was only supported by Haynes so I had no choice, but in the book it - on many an occasion - states that I should "take it to the dealer". What the fuck, I bought the book so I wouldn't have to. It tells you to take it to the dealer for things as simple as adjusting the headlights "because you could 'dazzle' other drivers and cause an accident."

    FUCK HAYNES!

No shit Hans. If you were so fucking busy you wouldn't have time to be installing speakers in your car. Jesus fucking Jah, it's 3 weeks past Christmas already...

Thank you for saying it! I was avoiding posting to avoid a possible flame storm, but I agree with you 100%.

Hans, I've always liked you and enjoyed your posts, so I was incredibly dissapointed to see your name on the slacker list. Get off your ass right now. Go get a gift certificate or something, and hit the post office first thing tomorrow. Hell, you could probably get something like that delivered online pretty cheap. You don't even have to get up!

My close friend has been awaiting her mast. She tested positive for coccane on a drug test and she thinks that some one slipped something in her drink. And it was only last Friday that she finally got masted, she's not getting discharged but she has 2 weeks of lock-down and 4 months of random drug tests before she can even think about going back to school. So i have been a bit distracted on getting my SS gift.

Again, I call bullshit. If you have time and money to spend on car speakers you have no excuse. And even if you lacked money or time it doesn't explain why you participated in the secret santa in the first place. Honestly, I'm struggling to figure out how your story above has any impact at all on what we were talking about.

I didn't know i could buy gift certs online, like i did with all my car parts, the books i bought because its a short drive from base BB is like another 30 mins. And i was spending time with my friend becuase we didn't know if we would be able to spend time together off base after her mast. And i bought the stuff it should be there in a day or two.
