[digg]http://digg.com/mods/PSP_Homebrew_and_Emulators_made_easy_step_by_step[/digg] Psp step by step to homebrew and psx emulation Step one is an easy one: go buy or steal a psp."tweak3d does not condone stealing" Step two: You need to check the firmware. This can be done 2 ways. 1. The side of psp box. 2. Under settings/system setting/system information * if you already have firmware 1.5 skip to step four. Step three: The firmware will decide the downgrader to use. ta-82 downgrader is a different motherboard model of psp Do not use any downgrader so far on it.:> Different downgrader list from lowest to highest: 2.0 to 1.5 PSP Downloads | 2.0 -> 1.5 (MPH) Downgrader 2.5/2.6 to 1.5 PSP Downloads | Firmware 2.5+2.60 to 1.5 Downgrader 2.71 to 1.5 PSP Downloads | Easy 2.71 Downgrader 2.8 to 1.5 PSP Downloads | Easy 2.80 Downgrader Here's ta-82 downgrader: PSP Downloads | TA-082 Downgrader I can't really help you with this model so just follow the readme. Step four: The fun part, now that you have a psp running 1.5 firmware. * keep in mind you really need at least a gb memory card for any real fun with psp homebrew or emulation - they're about $40 bucks. Here's a list of emulators and homebrew: * all these programs need to be saved in psp\games folder PSP ISO games devhook.52 PSP Downloads | DevHook v0.52 This allows you to run ISO images of PSP games and emulate different firmware to play those games. Now you can dump your own images (but let's be honest, downloader on p2p or torrent program is easier and faster in most cases). dax ziso loader PSP Downloads | DAX ZISO Loader v0.62 Another great iso loader. If one doesn't work the other will. Gameboy Advance PSP Downloads | gpSP 0.9 Nes PSP Downloads | NesterJ Emulator Snes PSP Downloads | SnesPSP_TYL v0.4.2 ME N64 (beta still) PSP Downloads | Daedalus R8 Psx emulation 3.2 oe-a PSP Downloads | 3.02 OE-A Then do this one: 3.2 oe-b PSP Downloads | 3.02 OE-B Then this one: 3.3 oe-a PSP Downloads | 3.03 Open Edition Revision A Now that you have your PSP flashed to 3.3 oe-a you can play PSX games What I do is make a folder called psx in psp/games/ That's where I put eboot I made from the PSX image. Use this tool to make your PSX images into eboots: PSP Downloads | Simple POPSTATION GUI It takes your PSX image and converts it to PSP eboot so it can be played on PSP. Last min notes: You can change the icons and background pictures even music with this tool as well. ICON0 is icon 144 x 80 PIC1 is background image 480x272 PIC0 is description or I use an in-game screen shot 310x180 ICON1.pmf is a mini movie you can make but keep it under 500kb SND0.ac3 is a music file that plays when select that icon but keep it under 500kb Well that's it, if anyone else has any other questions let me know and don't forget to read readme files.
Ok, I see all this shit saying that they support 3.02 firmware for emulation, yet you have to use 1.5???? Is there any workaround if say you have firmware 3.01 where you can somehow run a psx iso image??
well i wont be upgrading anymore, i thought that the homebrew scene was fading out when i upgraded. I thought why am i restricting myself to 1.5 when almost all the games i own require 2.0+ and sooner or later I won't be able to play anything but shitty emulation. Obviously i was wrong, theres some good shit like psx emulation, along with compatibility still with current games, best of both worlds. Oh well, time will let me play some ff7 once again i suppose.
This is a really lame question, but how do I put more than one PS1 game on my memory stick? I've made the PSP/GAME/ISO folder and am putting the EBOOT file in there. Can I rename the EBOOT file to EBOOT-TEKKEN or EBOOT-FFVII? Or will that not work? Or can I make more than one ISO folder? Like ISO1 and ISO2?
Alrighty, little help over here please I'm having serious problems trying to play PSP ISOs (not PSX, but normal PSP titles). I've got the new updated 3.03 OE-B. I've put my ISO in the ROOT/ISO folder. I've recently (like, 2 minutes ago) formatted my memory stick and started from scatch, so the only things on my stick now are the ISO and the JPG I use as my wallpaper. I've tried booting up in 1.5 Kernel and 3.03 Kernel but still the game doesn't work. It can't be a bad ISO because I've tried about 5 games from the same site and nobody else is having trouble but me. The game shows up in my game menu, I get the full page picture of it and everything. Just when I click on it I get the error code (80020321). I've gotta be missing something really stupid because this looked like such a simple process. EDIT - Never mind, fixed it. Seems I didn't change something in the recovery menu. It's all good now, playing Tekken-DR and Burnout Legends! Woo!
For those that have problems in the future like this, either have a real dummy umd in the psp or go into recovery console and disable the requirement to have a umd.
The question I have, how do I go from 3.02 oeb to 3.03 oeb? Do I have to downgrade first or is there a direct path? Oh and the new firmware says it supports compressed psx games, how do I compress them?
do oyu mean upgrading to 3.03 oe A or is there a B out? To upgrade to 3.03oea, is the same process as going to 3.02oea. Copy the oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% directory to your psp/game150 directory, put the 1.50 and 3.03 pbp files in the oeupdmaker directory, and run the oeupdmaker to create the dxar file. after that, copy the 303oeflasher and 303oeflasher% to psp/game150, move the dxar file to the 303oeflasher directory, and run that update. as far as compression goes, in the download gog posted above for the 303oea firmware, there is a popstation directory in there, which has a readme that explains compression. You set the compression level when creating the eboot file from the iso. The only problem is you need the key files for hotshots golf, but i guess you can get that from the data directory in the psgui123 beta program that gog posted. EDIT: there's a new version of the popstation GUI posted in gog's original post. the filename is psgui221beta. It has the compression level in the gui to set when converting the ISO. does anyone know if the compression level makes the game runner slower when playing it on the psp, or does it just take longer when compressing?
please please put it in easier terms im only 12 but i really wnt to do this and i cant so im begging you for help

Neuroll Whats Up Guys, I'm New To This Whole Think So Forgive My Ignorance But Is It Possible To Downgrade If I Have Fw 3.3? Thanks In Advance.
Psp step by step to homebrew and psx emulation If PSP allow to run fw updaes form UPDATE folder, could be possible patch FW update file v 1.5 and execute update on any PSPs? FW usually contain 2 parts at least. Header+image Like open fw file in HEX editor, change V1.5 to v15(for example) on header. Save it. Put on UPDATE folder and execute? Could some one test it on sofisticated emulators?
You will need to get a hold of a pandora battery (anyone with a hacked psp can make you one), otherwise you will need to modify your battery into a pandora battery.
When you upgrade to 3.80 m-33 you will then be able to do custom firmware updates over the air just like you would if you were using the sony updater!
