Really? It's our way of life? Or maybe it has something to do with basing our troops in Saudi Arabia and our completely irrational blind perpetual support for Israel which might have them a bit more annoyed. You want to tell me how funneling billions of dollars to the Israelis to violate a bunch of UN resolutions and piss off the muslim world is supporting our way of life?
This is not a political issue it is a religious issue Christians vs Muslims. We're there to appropriate/protect our fuel source. We put our nose into everyplace we do, to procure better control over making more wealth for ourselves. Who knows WTF we are doing supporting isreal, I could never figure that one out.
I'm sorry to bump this thread, but I just saw this and wanted to ask you all... http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/08/13/obama.islamic.center.support/index.html?hpt=T1&iref=BN1 Given all the shit this man has taken for being muslim and unamerican, isn't this retarded thing to do politically? Or is he playing some angle I don't see, maybe trying to woo back the disenchanted far left?
Or maybe he is just doing the right thing? Either way, the people who are against this building are mostly the same people who are against anything Obama period, so upsetting them shouldn't really have any effect.
i predict: The dems will take it in the ass in November. It's going to be very popular for republicans to point the finger at the dems for every ill this country is facing. Don't get me wrong, I believe one is as bad as the other. I just don't see how the oposing party can posibly not use this to their advantage. What ever happened to the unity that was witnessed on 9/12? It didn't have very long legs, did it? What a load of crap that was...............thinking this country cound pull together for any cause. Anybody besides me remember the feelings watching the news that morning? Just curious.
Maybe so, but that is 90% because of the economy, which the Democrats aren't really to blame for. Gotta love short attention spans: "teh demz ar3 in p0wer and the ekonomy suckz! v0t3 r3Publikan!" (naturally both are to blame, however the Republicans deserve much more of the blame in this case)
yes, true. most of this shit started with the repubs. I tend to think that political parties are only an integral part of a divide and conquer stradegy. They all suck balls and have no intention on supportingg us. But the fact that O-B one-bama even spoke on this issue, lost every bit of support he had from me. It'll be interesting come november. Nothing really will change, but it'll be interesting. There's a reason FEMA has purchased 1/2 million coffins
You want a case where it isn't OK to do where and when you want, try recreational mining. Our citizenry is regulated much more than outsiders. There's a time and place for everything. I'm not saying don't build it, just that it's in poor taste and has motives not connected to "tollerance and understanding". This stated motivation is nothing more than our way of life being used against us. How dooes a massive dam fail? One of two ways: A) a massive catastrophic event. or B) a small crack forms and a leak starts. if not fixed and maintained, it will get bigger until collapse is inevitable. But what the hell, it won't happen in my lifetime, and I'm armed. The changes that will make this nation unrecognizable, will and are happening gradually. Idealism doesn't negate the need for vigilance and common sense. BWTH, I'm just an opinionated old fart. It's your world, build it as you see fit.
haha that picture is great ivan, i am going to use that to reply to the next chain email i get, thanks ooooooooooooor its a fucking cycle. History repeats itself but I do hope dems "take it in the ass" this election cycle. I think I could be very happy politically with obama in the white house and a slight republican majority in congress
To be fair, that happens to whichever party is in power. Also, I'm very disappointed with some of you in the thread. It's either we follow the constitution or we don't. Follow the fucking constitution.
I remember that unity, but like all things people seem to have their own definition of unity. Now it's my definition of unity vs them. For the record President George W. Bush vigorously defended American Muslims because they are Americans after all.
So, when that building gets bombed or destroyed in any of a thousand ways, can the baptists build a church in mecca? all things beingg equal. I'm real supportive of extending the constitution to those that put some value on it. Criminals do not think the laws applie to them, look where they get put, look what happens to their rights. Like I've said before. Build a mosque, build it any way you like, but not 600 feet from where a big hole is in the ground because of a professed muslim holy war. Everyone in support seems to think that it'sd no big deal, so let it be built and the people will respond. People aren't going to like it and no amount of spouting constitutional rights is going to change that. I simply see the whole mess as throwing gasoline on a fire. It's not even a matter of right or wrong, volitile fuel on a raging fire isn't going to lead to patience, understanding and tollerance.
Did I say their wouldn't be any trouble if the mosque is built? Of course there will be trouble and lots of it. I want America to show the world that we are no different than any place else. Please let that mosque be built then burned down or bombed to show the world the real face of America. A Christian stronghold against the evil Muslim empire. My post are not in support of the mosque I do support American Muslims because it is those moderates who need it the most and if you don't like it. meh As I posted earlier it doesn't matter if it's built or not the war will continue because it's what we do.
It's the theory of surge and decline. Historically, the party of the winning president see's a surge in congressional seats after the presidential elections and a decline in seats on off year elections (like this year). The democrats will lose many seats this year and it's going to be devastating for the democrats because it's a census year. A ton of states are going to see some pretty intense redistricting.
Of course politics have cycles, and these shifts happen on a regular basis, but do you really not believe that the economy is playing a HUGE part in it? And Obama in the White House and a Republican majority? I don't think a single bill would be passed! Maybe that is the point (oh, and great picture)
IMHO the Dems were out of power for a long time and when they finally got back in power they had a long list of stuff they wanted to do before they got kicked out again.
oh, i misunderstood what you were saying the first time, nevermind. I thought it was "bush caused the recession". my bad. and yeah, the economy is definatly going to be the driving force in the elections which does suck for them. I do like obama's "it could be worse" appeal...
Yes, it can be worse. But with those lemons, some good lemonade will be made. This poor economy only had me down for a bit over 4 months. Now, i'm more self sufficient than ever and i actually have more money in my pockets and it's in there longer. All without an income. the difference being, what little money comes my way, is mine and credit companies don't get any, commercial interests don't get any and taxes don't get hardly any. My main adjustment was giving up materialism. shit, it was a lot easier than I ever imagined. It's actually faster to save up to make a purchase than paying on time. to the system that did this to the economy, I say: "fuck me.....no! fuck yoooooooooooooo!"
Then there's this. Well said. http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/Mischief Manhattan/3370303/story.html This is what I'm saying. 10,000 Muslims denouncing Al-Qaeda is wonderful but not a big deal to me as an American if the 10,000 are in India instead of here in The U.S. I'd love to see a gathering of 1,000 Muslims here crying down the Jihads and Fatwas. Hasn't happened. Didn't South Park have to reedit one of it's silly cartoons for fear of retribution? Retribution......FOR A CARTOON!!! Because a Muslim killed some Dutch cartoonist for a drawing. Sorry all caps again......A DRAWING!!! The radicals seem to be running the program here.
Eh, he could do that but it is a free country and all so he shouldn't be required to do anything with his property if he does not want to. We have some serious constitution haters up in this thread. Even if he did do that, you know it wouldn't be enough and people would find another reason to bitch about this building. Fun fact: There is a mosque 4 blocks (this one is 2 blocks I believe) from grown zero that predates the world trade center. Maybe we should close that down, because that makes as much sense as not allowing this one to be opened.
