I've dealt with both. I've used a D70, and own a Rebel XT. Their both really solid cameras and take great photos, but I have to admit, the Nikon just "feals" tougher. Then again, I've beaten the shit out of my camera, and it's still going somehow.

Also, those Lumix cameras kick ass. I was surprised after playing with one at Best Buy the other day. They have one that'll take SLR lenses if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, I think I saw it, was around the same price I think as well. A bit bigger of course, but cool none the less. I wanted something for my pocket, plus I'm new to photography so I wanted to not get too hot and heavy on the first investment.

Great size for a 10X zoom. I've been curious how those are, keep us posted on your experience with it.

This is my little sister Tristanne, she is 10 now. This was a motion shot using default settings.

One of my first quick snaps with it, this is my brother Adam. He was trying to check his available balance to see if he could afford the Wii that was in stock at Best Buy.

There are more, so if you want to check them out heres the link.

Though there isn't anything special there yet. Still working on how to use it properly and such. Yay for more photography threads!

why not get a real camera? the d40 is a joke, limiting you to the use of only nikon's DX series of lenses and it feels like a toy in your hands.

Nikon generally has better bodies but the lenses are shit compared to Canon.

Uh Ali is right. But just because I don't care I will respond here. I honestly don't know where that came from? Where does me buying a camera have to do anything with my weight? Let alone the fact that I haven't really put up any recent pictures. Are you looking at my old wrestling pictures? I was pretty damn in shape then. Or maybe recalling an old post where I explained being overweight.

Well I have always been big and fat, not so much fat all the time, but always had a belly even during the time I was in the best shape. After highschool got out though, and I was out on my own, not having sports and having to fend for myself food wise I slowly started to gain weight. To be honest it really hasn't been a big problem till recently, that I have been having to deal with the side effects. My size isn't anything emotional, other than the over abundance of laziness. I'm trying to work on that, but it's not as easy as they say.

I really like my camera, great purchase, one of the few large purchases where I had no buyers remorse. I just wish I could use it more, time to go out and play just so I can take pictures.

I weighed more in the sixth grade than I do now.....parents had a bakery that I spent alot of hours working in. The thirtheenth do-nut/bagel/cookie.pastry in a baker's dozen is for the baker....I always took advantage of that perk. Back to cams though, what's the verdict on the canon d550? Anyone have one?

When you are buying consumer level lenses it makes absolutely no difference at all. You don't start getting in to the differences in manufacturing quality until you hit the $500+ price range. Disclosure: I own a Nikon D50.
