Dude for shame ordering Apple LCDs. I'm probably the biggest Apple fanboy on these forums and even I know not to buy one of their overpriced lcds. :p

Oh are images not loading for the rest of you or is Qwest full of douchebaggery.

For shame? I pondered that and looked elsewhere but from all the reviews I looked at, I decided to go with them in the end. I considered the Dell 2408's or whatever but...meh...

Images seem to load fine. BTW, don't be a fanboy of anything. ;)

You weren't the first fanboy BTW. I had the first OSX based quicksilver G4 on these forums and I took a great deal of shit for it back in the day... and before that I had the apple IIe in 1980 ;)

Drop a bit of alcohol solution into the ball, (I find even an alcohol based window cleaning solution works.) press and rub/roll the ball around onto a clean cloth or paper or something to pick up any crap and clean what the ball is rolling against. Let it dry for a few mins, the ball will work perfectly again. I actually don't have to do it all that often really.

I also prefer the 360 directional scroll ball over a scroll wheel.

Definitely never claimed to be the first. ;)

Their great monitors don't get me wrong, they're just massively marked up items.

Tried that as did the genius at the Apple Store and it sill refused to work.

Heh, yeah but they are damn sexy. :) I opened the box and took a peek. The build quality is great. I think I need another video card (ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB) to run the 2nd monitor though. I wasn't sure and didn't want to over order but it looks like I do afterall. No biggie. I can pick that up locally.

How would you need another video card? 1 4870 should have two DVI ports and you have two DVI monitors. I run two 24" displays on my 4870 no problem.

The 24" LED Cinema Displays only have a cord with a 3-connector dongle. One is for USB, One for Magsafe and the third is the Mini DisplayPort.

Apple - LED Cinema Display - Features

There is no DVI connector on the monitor itself. If I ran another brand of monitor, could run the two displays off of one card by using the DVI connector and using an adaptor to convert the Mini DisplayPort to DVI on the other.

(ATI Radeon HD 4870 includes two video ports: one Mini DisplayPort and one dual-link DVI port.)

Problem is that Apple doesn't currently make an adaptor for female MDP --> Male DVI. I ordered one of these (Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.)) but that's the opposite of what I would need.

The only way to run dual LED Cinema Displays is two cards, each with a MDP.

I went ahead and ordered another one. My Final Cut Studio 2 HD came in today. Now I'm just waiting on the Mac Pro and the additional Radeon...

You're not going to hook the system up to a studio monitor to double check your colors?

Yeah I am that'll be the third display. 90% of what I do is 1080p HD spots so it will be output to an LG or Panasonic HD commercial display. Eventually, I'll get a proper set up with something like this:

...and a Kona capture card (http://www.aja.com/products/kona/).

Both LED Cinema Displays will be calibrated with a Huey.

    Fixed.

I actually paid for it. It's a business expense. Not that it matters. It'll pay for itself just like a mechanic's wrench pays for itself over time.

That's only the 24" LED Cinema Displays. The 30" actually has DVI in so any DVI card PC/Mac can run them.

Shit, I may still have an issue getting both monitirs to work once the tower arrives. I found this on Apple's support forums:

To get the 2nd HD 4870 to work I'll need to power it somehow. Does anyone make something I can use? I found this but I don't even know if the Mac Pros even use molex anymore.

    2 x 4-Pin ATX to 6-Pin PCI-Express Video Card Power Converter - Power Cables & Accessories at PCLoft.com

What about a Transformer like some of the older high-power GFX cards used to use. In other words a transformer that plugs into the wall outlet on one end and the 6-pin connectors on the other. Any Ideas?

    This may work.

It's the Mac-Pro to nVidia Quadro FX power cable. All this will be clearer when I get the tower in my hands and opened up.

    Edit: What about this?

Yours didn't ship from China? I was surprised that my iMac's shipping origin was Shanghai.
