I make a decent living and the Odyssey will be paid off in Spring and I paid cash for the Mazda so I won't have a car payment anymore. That being said, I want to finally get something that looks a little more like I am a professional. Which would you get and yes your opinions will count?

    BMW 330Ci
    or
Lexus IS300 <--- I actually want the IS350, but Edmunds doesn't have them up there yet.

I say BMW but i'm a sucker for the Euro's.

the IS300 isn't a bad car, but it doesn't stick out to me much as a luxury car. in japan the altezza (is 300 with a 4 banger) is just another familly car. they just through in an NA MKIV supra engine in it stateside.

if your looking to seriously mod the car, the IS 300 does have a really good chasie, and a twin turbo 2JZ GTE drops right in 8)

if not i'd get a BMW or an audi myself.

I sure you've narrowed your choices down to these 2 cars for a good reason, but nevertheless the Inifiniti G35 coupe comes to my mind as another good option. I don't know how you feel about it but I just thought I'd mention it.

Of the two cars you are picking from, I'd go with the BMW. Not much reasoning behind it other than looks.

Sorry, the irony was choking me.

    And go with the BMW.

They're quality, and classier than a Lexus.

G35 was in the running for a while, but I drove a friend's G35 that is only 18 months old and it just felt loose. It was a completely different car from when he bought it. It was still nice, but after having driven the 330 and an IS300, the G35 just isn't where it's at.

The 330 is ahead in the race right now, but I haven't driven an IS350 yet so it hasn't been ruled out. The 330Ci is a friggin dream to drive though. Gobs of power, COMPLETELY flat through turns and it just feels solid. Great car.

Because it was sitting my garage all the time and I didn't have time to work on it anymore. If you are not drag racing or modding a Mustang, it's a piece of crap to own. It wasn't a friendly daily driver either.

well considering i have bought both of these cars i would go with the lexus. I had both models, 330ci and is300 fully loaded, both 5 speeds. The bmw defently has more power under the hood but the lexus rides so much better. The car is quiter, smoother, and more room if you need to transport 2+ people. You can also get the lexus for a better price. The new is350s are really nice but i dont think they have a manual model if thats what you are looking for. the is250 has a 6 speed option that i think would be pretty nice. Still has some nice power think around 200 some horses? I know the is350 has 308 hp.

The one thing I didnt do that i regret was test drive the infiniti g35coupe. They have lots of power and are a real bang for the buck when you look at the price.

    Good luck

ps if you buy the is300 i can hook you up with some brand new Tein S-Tech lowering springs for a real good price.

Considering that you are buying the car exclusively for appearance/status reasons, I find it hard to believe that you don't realize that nothing screams "Wannabe!" more than a BMW 3-series owner. It is a compact car, and I don't think your clients will be very comfortable or impressed in it, whichever is a consideration. The road is covered with them. They are BMW's best-selling cars, mostly owned by rednecks and girls who have just graduated high school. Which is a testament to BMWs brand, since every gas pumper will buy this little piece of shit just to say they drive a BMW, even though they can't afford one.

If you don't want to spend the money on a 5 or 7 series, consider shopping around for a month or two to find something with 10 or 20,000 miles on it. You can find what you want only a year or two old for what you would pay for a 3-series.

As for Lexus', they are slow, overstearing, unresponsive "isolation booths" that take the "everything" out of car. And their interiors look cheap, like a whore house. But I would definitely take one over a BMW 3, provided that you choose one that you can actually put people into.

Considering your price range (BMW 3), you might choose an Audi if you demand new (A4 is still very small). But better yet, if you refuse to buy a real car from Audi or BMW, take a hard look at Infinity. They are the hot thing right now with both Pussy Coward Shithead Sellouts magazine and Motortrend magazine.

The 330 is hardly a wannabe. Drive one and then come back and revise your post.

They're fine for who they're intended, but for a driver, they're just sleep-inducingly boring. I've only driven a 95~ 325 and a few 03/04 330s.. Never liked them at all
