The hood is a one off custom rattlecan job. I don't care for looks much, but I will be picking up either a black hood or a matching one soon. Complete respray hopefully in spring.
Why in the hell would you paint the hood black? Theres nothing worse than ricing out a stock hood, and thats exactly what your doing. Using real carbon fiber saves weight. Painting the hood does not, yet fools the low IQ punks into thinking you have a CF hood ;0
i think you're trying to fool the people that dont care, and the people that do care can tell it's really fake. but it's ur thing!
How the fuck am I ricing it? I bought the car for $400, there was a pos hood on it. I got a white hood, and I figured I'd throw some black paint on it to make it look a little better than white. How the FUCK is that rice? I never once tried to make it look like "cf", I would never spend the money for that . I built this car as a low-budget deal, and looks are one of the last things on my mind. And yes, I'm talking about the FMIC.
My hood is better , got it for free its off a 78 turbo regal, made it functional and we painted it black even though the car is blue Sealed Painted gonna wet sand it and get rid of some ugly bodywork
91 Eagle Talon TSi AWD... bought it w/ a bad motor, swapped another in, did some LIGHT mods, ran 13.69.... and this year I'm shootin for 12s.
Ok, sry but i think 13s for ~$800 invested total is pretty good. Not to mention lots of stuff was holding me back, I was kknockin in 3rd and 4th, was running only 13psi, and still had stock exhaust on.. well stock a lot of crap. Most dsms with just a turboback exhaust and 18psi hit low 13s no prob... Not to mention that was my 1st time at the track, like I said, this year the times should be a good deal lower. And I happen to love these cars so whatever. And I mentioned the FMIC in the 1st post...
So if you have a black hood you are a ricer? What if you have a black hood because you like the way it looks?
We're not saying that he is a ricer, we're saying that he LOOKS like a ricer. Whether he is or not, that isn't the point, the point is that most people who paint their hoods black want to mimic a carbon fiber effect. Its like pulling out a wad of 5$ bills instead of 100$ bills, or wearing a diamond ring that isn't a diamond but plastic. You might think that it looks good, but most people will look at you and say "omg thats fake". Of course, if you don't give a fuck about what others think, what the hell does it matter?
btw, front mounts are badass. Nice job. Every time I see one I know that whoevers driving that car has something fairly decent under the hood.
So easy to throw the rice word down without even knowing what it means I wouldn't call his hood rice, I'd call it two-tone. Especially considering that the car is all black from the window line up... The badly painted hood matches. I actually think it looks pretty good The clear lenses however.. I never understood those
I like the way some cars look with a black hood of course carbon fiber looks better. It'll be 5000 years before I could mod my car the way I want.
As a DSMer.. well a true DSMer, looks arent really my concern. And I'm actually gonna put the stock amber/clear corner lenses on. Installed today - GM MAF-T (allows me to run a LS1 style MAF, more flow over stock, and better setup w/ my fmic), and Apexi SAFC... gotta tune it tho. Oh, And I would like to have a nicely painted black hood, and light covers, It does look good, as the roof goes with the scheme, so if you don't like it, whatever, and thats only because getting a red hood to match will be hard.
