Man, so I've hardly been online because net access has sucked. Some interesting things have happened for sure, and I'm taking an overnight bus tomorrow night to Hampi. I did just buy a mobile broadband modem today though so I should have decent internet coverage for the rest of my time in India (maybe not the far north, if I can even get there??) so expect to see more of me I hope to have a new blog up in a day or two. That stone church was fantastic. But you gotta take it easy with the climbing. You take a nasty tumble over there and I don't think you'll be rapidly transported to an OSHA certified medical facility.

Is that picture working for people? I just see 'attachment xxx' The trip ends in hopefully two months. I really only have another month according to what I told my boss, but I'm pretty sure I can extend it another month. The plan is go spend more time in the southern part of India than I was initially thinking, then work on getting my mountain fix in Nepal where I want to spend a month. wiskas, my internet connection is hopeless when it comes to Youtube for some reason, so I can't see the video. Yup, all went well. Now I'm rid of those pesky cottonwoods that've been threatening my structures. All that's left to do now is split that crap up. At least it splits really easily because I can't get a hydrolic splitter into those areas. I spent three hours just trying to get my truck unstuck out of the field a couple days ago while attempting to haul a trailer out. I just now got the trailer out by rigging a hitch to the lawn tractor. Looks like no driving out to the shop until late spring now.
Your going to burn the cottonwood? That junk puts out less heat than a candle, assuming it doesn't rot first
It makes lots of ash but heats my place just fine. Other hardwoods put out almost too much heat. I use a mix of madrone, oak and cottonwood with fir and cedar/cyprus for kindling. When I'm in the shop I only want heat while I'm in there so burning all nighters isn't a concideration. In the house I prefer madrone.

Fiddy's doing it right imho. By getting right in there with the people of the lands he visits. That's the only way to travel to new places and actually see the real "place".

Have fun in the mountains man. They are gorgeous. Sorry to hear about your gear bag. I imagine when you get to Jammu Tami it will be easier to find a lamp. They will likely have some outdoor gear shops.
Oh man, I met two Canadian girls (azn???) today and we went out to dinner and then a local bar tonight. Let me tell you, we got some looks, haha! It was this totally skeezy, dark, local place, the kind of place two girls shouldn't and wouldn't go on their own I'm so looking forward to the 75 hour train ride
Nah, they were both white. So I met this guy on the bus, now I'm off with him to an INDIAN HEAVY METAL SHOW and then hanging out with the bands ona beach in another town. Might get crazy.

I asked if the mosh or crowd surf, and he (Jayanth, guy I met on the bus) said they don't and this is the first metal show ever in this town. I'm sitting in this hotel room, and brown guys wearing all black heavy metal shirts keep walking in. I'm just sitting here like "Hi guys.... uhhh..." hahaha
