OH OH OH I WANT TO POST IMAGE MACROS.
Jubal you have been more negative than usual lately, what's up?
Internet tough guy persona mostly. (The macro is in jest and I just wanted to use it.)
Though in this case it's because he's making outlandish claims but doesn't put his thoughts into coherent packages. At least when Mistawiskas makes his crazy outlandish posts I can coherently read them. (Plus Wiskas reminds me of my dad listening to Art Bell for years so there's a bit of warm fuzzies.)
Though, personal life sucks this week and will continue to do so but I'm going to try and keep my legitimate real life bummer mood off the boards.
Well, I hope things are OK.
I think it's pretty funny that we're able to pick up on everyone's mood changes. Tweak becomes more of a homo commune day by day.
I think you just have a gay crush on me.
It's all good, if you didn't drive a CR-V I'd tell you it was ok to leave your wife.
dang Juball, I feel for you. Chin up and hang tough. Art bell!!!?? Every time i hear that name I feel like plugging in my copy of Prey. you know, jubal and i but heads a few times, but I have to admit, I get a chance to check myself, and what perceptions I have when that takes place and I end up a better person when I make it past my own pig headedness. i think it comes from his ability to present a legitimate, thought-out, inteligent response to my rantings. For that I do give Juball thanks. I'd be pissed if I didn't realize that his inteligence merits looking at what it is in me that has us but heads.[/mush]
Art Bell? Holy crap. Theres much more painless ways to get your GOP fix these days.... Dennis Miller is my choice, Micheal Medved if I'm driving around at lunch....
The thing in Texas seems ridiculous, someone can make claim, and the state government then has justification to swoop in and steal away 400 children from their parents. I would think this would be a little alarming to most Americans, but I guess people only get concerned when talk of wiretapping pops up.
It's not like the call occurred in a vacuum. The leader of these wackos was convicted last year of rape and conspiracy. This sort of thing should be crushed, I don't see it as a freedom issue at all. Unless you think people should be free to have sex with kids.
We'll have none of that here in the good ole US of A! That's what Thailand is for.
If there is real evidence that there was a man or men molesting children then why isn't the man or men not just taken away? There are still the mothers. We are talking about 400 children being taken away here.
I've actually been thinking the same thing. I also don't believe this would have happened if they were "normal Christians."
I can't believe you all are defended a cult that operates with polygamy, child marriages/rape, the use of women specifically as breeders, that advocates spousal and child abuse and is for all intensive purposes as restrictive as fundamentalist Muslims in it's treatment of women and children.
I'm not defending child marriage or rape, but I've yet to hear anything serious enough to allow for the removal of 400 children from their parents to seem justified.
It's an awful restrictive environment for a child to live in some sheltered cult world. I think they're better off, even if the reason behind it isn't completely justified in your eyes.

It isn't about defending this cult or that. There was a phone call or calls made by a girl who has yet to be located, which is what sparked the raid. How is it constitutional in the United States for the state government to come in and take not 1, not 2, but 400 children away from their parents based on a call and then possibly put them up in foster homes? What prevents the state governments from taking children from anyone else in America if someone decides to make a phone call saying you molest your children? People are making this issue about the cult and I'm sorry I don't see it that way. I see it as government showing it pretty much has the power to do whatever the heck it wants, forget the US Constitution.
See: South Park, The Wacky Molestation Adventure.
Seriously damn the man for defending those who can't defend themselves.
This stuff goes back years with numerous Dateline style shows where the town's "sheriff" refused the camera crew's entry into the community. If that doesn't say they have something to hide then I don't know what does. Note: not into individual residences but the entire town.
This isn't a cult versus the government thing. This is the government versus a community who has not upheld the rights of women and children.
950: I love South Park as much as the next guy but really using it as a reference in a debate? Might as well have cited dickipedia.org.
Nah, I'm certainly not using it as the basis for any argument, I just found it amusing.
But I still stand behind the belief that while these people were undoubtedly doing some messed up stuff, no government has the right to do something like that without better evidence.
If there is evidence that this was going on, then the mothers could be seen as allowing it to happen. In any case, the state took custody until they could sort the whole mess out. ...which will probably be never. From the interviews I have seen, that Kool-Aid must taste DAMN good.
950 are you the official Tweak3d Liberal? I like your insight even if you get criticized or attacked for them.
It's funny, these people were taught not to socialize with "The World" and it's people because it is wicked. I was taught the same thing as a JW. "Be in the World but not part of the World for it is ruled by Satan" and thus wicked. Not to this extreme but close.
Having heard more about the case, I too am starting to believe that more evidence / investigation should have been done before the kids were removed. I don't agree with what the cult is doing, but the government appears to have exceeded it's authority.
I'm sorry I don't buy into the media blow up, and I happen to not look at this only through the guise of it as just a crazy cult in their own strange world, rather I see it as the state seizing children based on a phone call from a person that may or may not exist. It is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty in America after all and we do have a Constitution. I don't know what happened there, maybe some man did molest children maybe not, and if there were solid evidence that a particular man was molesting children then take him away, but that didn't happen, rather entire families were broken up.
I never said I agree with it, but what's done is done. This is TX after all.
