I'm watching a fiber optic cable going in about 200' from my back door as I write this............;)
Our tax dollars at work. http://www.broadband.gov/recovery_act.html

Back on topic: I'm starting to get concerned about my 2 500Gb drives now. I'd better pick up some spares and clone my stuff.

    Sonnofabitch!
I've been reviewing failure rates on multi terabite HDD's and this is starting to scare the living piss out of me. All sizes, all make and all models show between 13 and 26% failure/DOA rates. WTF is going on over in China?

I recently took my 2TB drives and put them in a mirror, and I have an external 1TB drive that is kids movies/tv shows plus family pictures and documents.

That way, if both my internal drives bite the dust, I've got some redundancy for important stuff. If our movies go bye-bye...no biggie. I can get copies of most of it from family members, and on bluray!

Actually, 40% in Thailand, most others are Indonesia.
