Lenovo is the one of, if not, the biggest manufacturers of laptops. Its a Chinese company. They bought the Thinkpad name off of IBM not too long ago.

    Thats about all I know.

yea, i knew that the bought thinkpad from IBM. there must be some kind of a deal going on with IBM because it still has the IBM badge. I was looking at either the X or the X-tablet series for the size/weight (12.1" screen and 2.7/3.5lbs respectively). I was just curious if the quality has gone up/down from the older thinkpads.

well, that makes sense now, cus on the box of my work T42 is says manufactured for Levono or something. ya, its says "for" not "by"

and to answer your question justinL, IBM laptops are leaps and bounds above any other makers laptops its not even funny. so even if someone else besides ibm is making them, they are still a shit ton better then any other makers laptops.

IBM is okay. I would still prefer an Acer or Toshiba though.

Lenovo bought IBM's personal computer's brand and area (including the IBM badge) some time ago (maybe 6 months ago). For what I read, it was a small section of IBM's profits, and they wanted to get rid of it. I think they made more money out of the bussiness services and chip manufacturing than of making PCs...

Thinkpads are the shit. I would take one over any other laptop.

so they are still built by IBM (or who ever use build them for IBM)? Everything I had been reading said the thinkpads are top notch, but i havn't read or heard anything about lenovo. looks like i'll still go with the thinkpad now.

Think pads are nice but the models I want don't have a fucking touch pad and I hate that little knob thing:|

After IBM I'd say it's tochiba in terms of quality.
