BBC NEWS | Europe | Last Supper gets 16bn pixel boost
Pretty damn cool. Go technology.
That site must be getting hammered. It will not load for me. That's a huge picture, I want to see it.
That is cool as hell! Amazing how the technology can be used to aid in protecting this amazing piece of history.
Yah, I just tried as well, no go. Then again, that's about what I expected to happen.
wow, that is some sick detail. You can zoom in to see all the individual cracks of the painting.
The story behind that painting is so sad. It's been ruined so many times, and been ruined while trying to be restored. Supposedly, the faces (shapes, etc.) look nothing like they originally did.
anyone know what the size of that picture is? its got to be in the gigabytes.
Oh, easily. The painting itself is 15ft x almost 30ft. To see each individual flake and crack like that, it's easily a few gigabytes.
You ever notice how the characters don't even look middle eastern?
im not impressed at all by how much zoom there is..
i was expecting to see in between the cracks almost at a microscopic level..
waste of my time.
holy shit this is cool, amazing detail. It is like google earth but a painting!
edit: just read torx's post... are you being sarcastic or what?
Now if GE was that good.......I'd use it for my OS! I wouldn't have time for winders. Hell, I can't wait untill there's enough cores on a die and huge assed ram to run Google earth with that kind of rez.
