It's not something I do but I can't say that I havn't been tempted a few times during rush hour traffic. Anyways, everyone enjoys video's of people risking their lives doing stupid things so here we go!

YouTube - Police Waves Motorcyclist to Split Lanes Past Him

YouTube - Dont you wanna ride? Take a ride in my head... Enjoy

YouTube - Lane splitting Los Angeles

YouTube - filtering in athens, greece

No doubt! My first trip to LA it freaked me out. One bike after another, rocketing at 100mph between cars already going 80mph! It's madness...

The second video is creepy - did that guy die or something? What's the point of the song and the people it keeps showing?

I bet that'd save so much time in traffic but it sure looks dangerous. :)

Somebody did that to me slightly when I was in traffic, I was tempted to open my door when I saw him coming.

I asked once whether this was legal over here in the UK on another forum, got a mixed response seems if the traffic is under 50mph then it's fine to filter. After that and I'm not sure.

Anyway I filter all the time when traffic is going less than 50 mph and the car ahead is going slower than the speed limit.
I got a different job now so I don't have to do it anymore.

It is dangerous but you pretty much have no choice, sports bikes just over heat, if your not always moving. My R6 isn't too bad, but my friends R1 is awful. Stay still in a city center for a couple minutes and the fan switches on. And I have to admit filtering is a lot of fun :). I used to knock about 40 minutes of my journey to work.

Regarding safety I find it to be the opposite to what Nidex said. I couldn't believe how well drivers treated me when I was on my bike, compared to driving my car.

When I was in my car people would let you in but then a lot of people just didn't. The the closer you got to 9:00 the worse it got. On my bike everybody let me in, when filtering people moved there cars to make the gap wider even though they didn't need to.

To be honest I've always done the same. I check my mirrors a lot, and if I see a bike I'll make it as easy as possible for the bike to over take me whatever the road or speed limit. I won't slow down for them or anything like, and I find just about everybody does the same for me when I'm on my bike, except for the "boy racers" who have a habit of increasing there speed.

@ Coleman, I've seen that filtering in Athens video before. Have you seen that Paris one for crazy, I draw the line here, I'd never ever try this. In case you haven't seen it it's here YouTube - Motorcycle lap of Paris

Assholes like you are the reason white lining is illegal in Denver, douchebags would open their doors in rush hour traffic when a motorcyclist approached.

Nearly every motorcyclists in LA does this. Hell, there'd be at least a couple dozen each morning when TheDarkSeed and I would drive down to CSUN.
  13. I think the second video starts at the 15N 91W interchange.

I can't remember the name of freeway in the third one, but I've been on it. I think it's sped up too.

    Lanesplitting, lol.

Guess ya gotta compensate for having a small dick somehow, eh?

I was hoping the guy in the LA video would just crash into the back of someone, lol.

Well when I ride a bike, I don't cut through cars like that.. maybe because it's dangerous? How many people do you think expect a bike to "lane split" between them and the car next to them? It's not the riders skill, it's the other dumbasses on the road that cause a problem.

That argument you just put up did absolutely nothing to deter the fact that your other post was just an assholish thing to say. Other dumbasses who will go out of their way to be dicks, right?

And as for the small dicks comment, I dont get how whenever something involving a certain type of car or whatever comes up, someone mentions everyone who owns one must have a small dick.

And in LA im always jealous of bikes in near standstill traffic.

My feeling on it is this:

If someone is so much into cars that they go out of their way to impress other people and show how badass they are, they're hiding something. A common way for someone to fill a void is by doing something or showing off something that just says "look at me".

Cars are nice, and I like nice cars. But when it comes to shit like exhaust pipes you can hear a mile away and "spinning" rims, it's fucking dumb. Seriously.

Okay, and these videos don't really employ either.

You would think if that was the issue, people lane splitting would advertise themselves.

Video taping yourself "lanesplitting" and putting it on youtube isn't showing off or saying "look at me"?

My logic in this subject is easily comprehended. I couldn't lay it out any easier.

I have nothing against car enthusiasts, which you seem to be, as you seem to have taken extreme offense to what I said.

*Speaking in general* Just don't be a twat with a ricer exhaust and spinners.

Wow nobody on this forum can take a joke. Do you think I'd really open my door if I saw a bike coming at me? Get a clue.

My mom's friend used to live in CA and lanesplit all the time. One day he was going through standstill traffic and somebody opened their door just as he got there. He no longer has any genitals because they were completely torn off of his body, and his severe back injury forces him to walk with a cane.

Sure, you're saving alot of time, but it's dangerous as hell.
