The question is what rumored features are going to be in it: RFID, front facing camera, other?

LOL, I'll be in manager training during that month too:( Man my store is going to hurt.

I will say this though, I haven't seen any blackouts for the time specified.

If I were to guess I would say this would be a stunt to boost at&t's stock before it posts it's earnings next week.

The micro sim almost assures that it's going to at&t:D

However I know that there are phones out there like the blackberry tour that also take a sim card and word on cdma but what do people think the chances of a cdma version with a micro sim are?

Hopefully it has both, preferably with the ability to take it to any carrier because if I'm doing CDMA I might as well go with Sprint.

I don't know, with a component shrink of that size I'd imagine it would be hard to include to cellular radios (gsm/cdma).

Of course gizmodo's comments are down so I can't ask them to look at the chips on the motherboard:|

What the fuck is so great about this upgrade.

I guess I should reserve all judgments until it is actually unveiled and we know all the hardware specs.

Video chats, faster proc, longer battery life + the improvements from OS 4 will make this a pretty decent upgrade for those of us with the 3G.

At this point in the game, Apple's already got successful hardware and it's a matter of incremental improvements.

So what exactly do you think the iPhone needs outside of 4G and another carrier since it seems as though we're stuck riding AT&Ts dick for a while longer.

Actually I have. A month or so ago I got to play with an HTC phone and was quite impressed. Since I have a Mac though, I'd like to have the iPhone if it came to Verizon.

...i was going to mention something like that but just kept my post short. Thats why I believe a lot of people are waiting for the iphone. They have a lot tied into other apple products and want to keep everything interchangeable.

As far as the android phones go a lot of people dont really know the true potential they have. I have my phone "overclocked" right now at 1k from the standard 550 mHz...you can actually take the phone to 1500(since everyone seems to be worried about processor speed on phones right now). My phone is lightening fast and it is awesome at how much you can customize these phones because they are open sourced. I can actually see my self holding onto this phone for the next two years until my upgrade is due again :)

"a lot of people don't really know the true potential they have."

And that's the problem with android. The majority of people don't want to have to dig through the phone or forums, etc to find their phones true potential, they just want a phone that does what it does and does it well.

That's the iphones appeal, accessibility, not it's potential.

Why does having a mac matter? I have a Macbook and a PC with osx86, I have been using android phones for a year now. Android phones transcend the whole sync issues of iphones. Contacts in the cloud, you can actually access the storage and put whatever you want on it, and there are apps that sync to itunes.

Thats the thing though, the iPhone doesn't have the same potential unless you jailbreak it. So its not like the iPhone has all the power and its easier to use (the power), but that it doesn't have all the same capabilities unless you know what you are doing. Same boat, just different route. I am not saying the iPhone sucks, it has a lot going for it, but imo it lacks the type of features I now expect in a phone. Not being able to install an app outside of the app store is just a no go. Its not just multitasking either, there is more that you can do with android, that iphone 4 os still doesn't have the capabilities of.

I know people that are not nerds that use android phones, as a phone they work well, and as they use the phone, they learn more cool things they can do with it. Not to mention, the iPhone wasn't always easy to get into, it has just been out so long that what it does seems like its always been there.

My point was that the iPhone doesn't have a lot of potential and that because all of it's appeal is right there in front if the consumer.

It's like comparing a civic to a mustang. Sure they are both nice cars in their own right but if you want power you wouldn't let a salesman sell you the civic and tell you can modify it and it will be faster than the mustang all for the same price.
At least most customers wouldn't go for that and that how it is for the average iPhone user/buyer.
