MSP, that sucks that he's some crazed redneck that you can't talk to. I'd do the same thing if I were in your situation. In the meantime, have you talked to your other neighbors? You should all coordinate some complaints and bombard the zoning commission demanding that something be done. Nose, I see where you're coming from but as the others have said, MSP could be losing thousands of dollars because of this guy. To me, the mess doesn't look too bad but something does need to be done. If at the very least the guy could clean up the clutter in the yard.

I'm all for disagreement and variance of opinion, but opening lines like "You sound like the most fucking annoying neighbor in the world" are pretty representative of what I get from you. You're free to feel that way, post those opinions, etc. But just don't be surprised when I brush you off or ignore you entirely. But seriously. about the pictures/neighbor situation: As a self-supported adult, I'll throw in my .02 and say that if property value downers and general annoyances got excessive, I'd address it with the person. If he is a stubborn ass, then reflect that attitude back at him. I treat people as they treat me. Suggested coarse of action: 1. talk it out with him to address the situation. He may actually listen if you present it right the first time. Gossiping about a person w/o addressing the issues that causes the gossip will distort the reality of the situation. Gossip is very passive aggressive and for the weak IMO. 2. if #1 fails, just rip his stuff off of your property....Cut it. If he fucks with your property further, catch him in the act and physically stop him.
I live in HOA Nazi land. If any of my neighbors yards looked like that, they would get fined out the cornhole by the HOA. If they ignored the fines or refused to change, the HOA board has the legal right to purchase the property from the owner and force them to move.

Tell me about it. We have an entire department where I work that does that. They're nice guys, but the brightest guy among them is about a 5 watt bulb. I've tried to explain to them about "netiquette" and all that, but there's simply no talking to them.

on the subject of typing in all caps, i think it makes people look dumber than bad grammar and typos running rampant. even lacking capitalization is better than everything being capitalized. but maybe it's just me. honestly, it's a huge fucking eyesore for me to read. anyways, i'm not used to this crap in CA. every backyard i've had has a privacy fence taller than I am. i can't see their backyards, and likewise they can't see mine. problem solved. I happen to know my next door neighbor's backyard is overrun with weeds and has crap all over. and it's pretty much a haven for cats to go and fuck. but out of sight, out of mind. just put up a fence or spring the big bucks for a nice cinderblock wall. oh wait, your perimiter is probably huge in comparison to my backyard though... mine is maybe a 100ft of fencing.
My yard isn't huge, but it's still about 1/3 of an acre. It would be a few grand for a decent privacy fence. I'd probably just plant more trees instead. I emailed her back, just getting some more information. Not sure what I'm going to do now frankly.
It's a standard operating proceedure for government agencies to type in all caps. They've been doing that shit long before the advent of the interwebs.
On the neigbhor, I wouldn't put up with that if you are in a nicer area. One of my room mates thinks its just fine to part out a car in OUR garage. He pulled the hood and rear end off of a firebird and left it laying in the yard for a while. One of my other room mates finally moved it, but he still wont make the call to have someone come and get the car (all he has to do is call someone and they will pick it up and pay him). We all yell at him, but he doesn't change anything. I would probably still give the lady his information. Maybe the other neigbhors will see and follow suit until something gets done. As far as caps go, when I work at the power company in the summers, I sometimes forget to turn off the caps lock as I work in the drafting department. It doesn't mean that lady is a moron.
