Boss just gave me the task of designing a brochure for our company, basically outlining the work we do and our labor rates, overtime policies etc... I guess i'm the marketing guy now too.

Has anyone ever done something like this? What program should I use to design it? I've done very little graphic design, webpage, truck stickers (thanks lurker) and business cards.

    Thanks in advance.

The easiest, most user friendly route would be Microsoft Publisher. If you have any proficiency with Photoshop, you can download a template with the page breaks outlined.

yeah, I manage all our marketing/sales stuff, publisher was the easiest for me, photoshop felt like overkill. One tip I can pass on, find cheap (college or just starting off) labor to do the design stuff for you, you can direct them. We get compliments on ours all the time (and it has been extremely effective,) I hired a guy fresh out of school to do the design part (couple of hours at $25/hr, way faster than I could have done it,) and a girl trying to start her own agency to consult on the marketing aspect (couple hundred a month over the course of 6 months.) Not that you need that much, just giving you an idea of value/cost

Ugh, publisher sucks. Hire a graphic designer that knows In-Design and look like you're running a professional business and not selling shit out of your garage.
czechrboard tassia and Sparky said thanks for this.
