If it were communist, it would be free! But there would only be one channel :p

    Nah, it's CrapatilastCast.

My bill keeps changing (because I keep messing with things, and Comcast keeps messing with me in return) but it's something like $130/month, ~$50 for internet and ~$80 for cable w/DVR.

I just did one single look at mobile broadband (verizon was the first to come up) and it says "Typical download speeds of 600 Kbps to 1.4 Mbps and typical upload speeds of 500 to 800 Kbps" and that's just hella slow. No thanks, at any price... are others faster?

Nah, that's about the speed you can expect. And you don't have a laptop anyway, right? So probably not a good choice.

I do have a laptop, but I don't really use it much. I'd rather use my desktop any day over my laptop. I only pull that out when traveling or whatever.

Talked to CrapatilastCast on the phone again, they offered me the cable/DVR I have right now for $35/month instead of the $80 or whatever I've been paying, but I told them no.

So I'm going with the basic cable, channel 2-29, which is essentially broadcast channels and some public access/government/qvc/religious shit. Ends up $1 more than just having internet alone, so I guess that's worth it.

So I'm either just going to return the DTV box and antenna or sell it to a friend. *sigh* I wish I'd checked on how much of a bitch Comcast was before I ordered that stuff...

Now you know the pain i feel with the only broadband that isn't a blatant rip off (points finger at hughs, skyblue and comcast). 1.5 is the fastest I can get out where i live. I'm not sure what kind of speeds are available with charter, but I hate that company with enough pasion to settle for 1.5 with qwest..

At my old house my DSL speeds weren't much better than that, 1.8 down and .8 up. For basic use it wasn't bad. Torrent was kinda slow, but otherwise it was fine.

I chose to just take the price of higher internet. The basic cable tv stuff i just that basic and doesn't offer the same channels as ota. Also you have to have one of their boxes. But as I said I don't watch my tv at all, not even to watch movies atm, so I could care less about having their basic cable tv. I would rather spend the extra $10. You didn't know they raise the price if you remove one of the services? It's called bundling, its their way to get you to believe its a better deal. Oh and most of those other channels you get with comcast basic are crap channels you wont watch anyways.

You don't have verizon fios in your area? If not then that sucks, it is much better than comcast.

Comcast did the same to me. I could keep blast high speed for 40bucks for 6 months, then 70. Or I could have blast and basic for ithink 60 forever (or until they decide to change it I guess). Anyway I went ahead and got basic as well. I don't watch tv but the lady does, so w/e
