I had a mini blueberry pie from wal-mart, to go with a supper of veggie pizza...pie... Since August, my Mom has been going through a parade of maladies. Just when we think she's on the upswing, some new thing comes along to smack her with the "getting better ban hammer". Starting off with chemical burns from a permanent (no Mom, just dabbing it off with a towel won't work) to a resulting fungal infection, to the shingles AND another different skin infection, to too-high blood pressure, to too-high potassium, and now at the stage of an enlarged heart and congestive heart failure combined with some weird form of cancer that causes the marrow to produce too many white blood cells. At 92 years old, I fear that Mom has finally entered that stage where everything just slowly goes downhill, and we're learning what all the medicare advantage does not cover... geh.
Sorry to hear about your mom. It's hard to watch someone keep getting sicker. I had to bare witness to my grandparents slip like that, many years ago. As well as my wife's two grandparents. Hang in there.
No pie for me this year. I gained 15 pounds in 12 months. Sorry about your mom Goofus. I can emphasize with you. My wife has major things happening and there's no end in sight. Thank God for medicare (medicare....not medicaid!) and a good part B insurance. Last year alone, the bills were over $500,000.
It looks like Mom is about to be signed up for Hospice Care, with once a week visits by a Nurse, and help in elder-ifying the House to make things easier for her.
