Blame the economy, but pretty much any used cars are selling for much cheaper now that a few months ago, even the fuel efficient ones (that were way pricier even two months ago).

I bought my 2001 Honda Insight (60/70 MPG) about 6 months ago for $7500 and since that time, the price of gas was rising constantly. Around the time gas peaked, I was seeing many Insights in similar condition to mine for as high as $14,000-$15,000.

Now that price of gas dropped back down, the price of the cars has plummeted... maybe the people freaking out about the prices scooped all these cars up then realized they don't need it when the gas price dropped to $2/gallon.

If you were in the market for the most fuel efficient car possible, try looking at your local Craigslist for Insights. They're only 2-seaters, but they are really neat technical cars that get the best mileage of any car sold in the country. I saw a few near here for about what I paid for mine.

Used Civics, Corollas, and other high-MPG cars are also much lower now than a couple months ago. Saab Turbos are cheap too and get like 30 MPG highway... I don't think this'll last if the gas price shoots back up.

Looking on Craigslist now, I'd love one of those...

Pft! I found one even reasonably close and they were asking $15,000 for it. Only 38k miles though. I guess it's worth that.

Deals are still out there. My roommate found and bought a 2001 Honda Insight for $4200 yesterday. Clean title, decent exterior / straight body. 162k miles, but that's nothing on these cars.. it drives like new. It has some other minor cosmetic issues but no dents or anything requiring any money. It has the CVT transmission and got 53 MPG on the drive home.

im going to try to be very unbiased about Honda which i despise worst manufacturer ever imo but i get 30 mpg in my wrx if i drive smart so i don't see a purpose to these fuel efficient cars. my cuz has a 08 accord v6 and he gets 300 miles out of his tank which i think is 22gal i get 266 miles from a 15 gallon tank (its 13 gal + 2 in reserve) where is the fuel economy???

And I get 40mpg out of my ancient beat up Civic driving it not-so-smart with 250,000 miles; and it costs less to maintain, and it's more reliable, parts are cheaper, and it handles better, and it's not a two ton wagon made for twats with a backwards motor.

In addition to that, the 2005 Accord V6 which is 3.0L 240hp also gets 23/30mpg with an automatic and the 2005 WRX with less cylinders, less displacement and less power can only muster 20/27mpg with a manual box... with the auto it's even worse.

    You're such a tool...

Yep definitely does. Why? Well, how about 1500lbs less weight and much better suspension? I've driven my fair share of Imprezas and WRX, they're pigs. The STi is a great car but the rest are just shit cars for boy racers.

No offense though, they're 'cool' cars and all but as far as handling and fun times are concerned... why would you want anything but a CRX or a Miata for some cheap economical good times?

am i missing something? are you missing something? the 300zx is a sick drifting car, and i love the way it looks, drives, feels, with some nice coil overs and some falcons the car would out handle a porch. just in my opinion but then again you might like driving civics, i know a few around here that are packing some serous juice but the majority of these things with anything short of a turbo are useless. though they are good on gas, and very economical cars with the worlds cheapest parts lol. also i think i dislike them because people believe if you put some stickers on it it will fly lol.

we have a lot of people older and younger that will throw some lights, a body kit, and a few stickers from stillen or something and think their cars could fly i don't understand that.

why we can make it interesting. if only you where closer to here you could come out to some of our meats. we have some realy nice cars here.

but so you know the wrx and sti are sitting on the same platform. and the upgraded suspension for a wrx is the one from the sti. the difference is not more then a larger engine and turbo, plus it comes stock with 22-19" sway bars front-back

And the power and brakes are the only reason the STi is even fun; otherwise it's just like driving a wheelbarrow.

no not at all. both cars are excellent on turns and they hug the road real hard.

ill tell you i raced an 08 cayman and he stayed on my back doors from 0-120

then we took some twistiest and he stayed exactly where he started behind me.

and for some reason unless its a 600hp civic they dont even keep up. what i mean is civics with just a cat back, and an intake, some springs and some stickers don't stand a chance at half throttle.

    Honda worst manufacturer?!???

The Insight gets 65-70 MPG on the freeway. And I'm calling BS that your WRX gets 30 MPG unless you're tailgating a semi at 55 MPH.

The Insight requires 87 octane and gets over double the gas mileage of a WRX that requires 91+ octane. Gas was over $4.00/gallon just 2 months ago. Do you see a point now?

Who's biased against a manufacturer? It's not a person. Either they make good cars or not. If you think Honda doesn't make good cars, then I think you're crazy.

BTW, why would you resort to name calling?
