Terrorists: not just foreign born brown people.

The media spin on this ought to be interesting.

I don't think so, if that was the case then there would have been some Obama hate in there somewhere.

To be honest he sounds a lot like us.

My first reaction when I heard about this guy was "YES!". I agree it's time for a revolution, but this isn't the way to do it. Setting his house on fire with his family inside, what the fuck...

Ditto. The only wake-up that call was for, was for him to seek assistance. We've been in tax tussles with the Government. Getting your ducks in a row, keeping on the phone like a pit-bull attached to a victim's leg, and patience, will always see one through. He just didn't plan things through, didn't seek tax advice, and it came back to bite him. He probably had anger issues all along which wouldn't help him at all.

I just have no sympathy for this person at all. "Violence is the only solution" my ass! If that were so, the French and Russian Revolutions wouldn't have ended with worse, more oppressive bloodbath-regimes (add Iran to that growing list).

This won't change anything. Maybe he just got done watching V for Vendetta on his huge plasma screen when the IRS called him and gave him the bad news.

That suicide note is pretty nuts, but if I were him I would have just fought fire with fire and got a new social security number, fuck killing yourself for the government. :D

He was unwilling to give up his way of life. If he couldn't have that quality of life he'd become accustomed to, nobody would get it. Wrong way to make a statement. The best way to make a statement would be to fall off the radar and just not pay taxes ever again. But he wanted a twisted glory, I guess. "The only way to win the game, is not to play it..." That is a crazy letter. Not sure how killing himself, IRS employees and his own family was going to help though.

The exact act which draws to him our attention also negates his credibility. It's almost zero-sum.

And it begins. Sorry, the guy was a nutjob, not a tea partier, not a republican, not a libertarian, just a crazy. He hated government, corporations, the catholic church, and felt just about everyone was trying to "keep the man down".

But I should have known this kind of false labeling was coming.

In other words, he's a typical Unabomber/"Sniper on the clock-tower" type of loner with a grudge against humanity in general, and certain groups in particular.

I think Timothy McVeigh and company more classically fit the profile of being terrorists, since, in my own definition, one must be part of a group who have the same ends and means, and actively plan to use those means, to be considered a terrorist.

The word: "terrorism" is a wonderful tool. What better way to raise emotions, discredit a person or sway the public opinion? Discrediting the opposition is the A#1 way to divide and conquere.
There are many a few "words"/phrases that have reached the same manipulative status. they can be used for selling a product or idea, or used to discredit a person or group. not that this nut job doesn't fall into the category and fit the definition. People need to remember what motive the government may have to put this puppy to bed ASAP. The amount of slant put on every single event reported by the mainstram makes me cautious as hell when words that can elicite an emotional response are thrown around repeatedly. Would the word: "terrorist" have the same effect had 9/11 not happened?
