Nope, no headaches from the canals. They were some of the best parts though. love that buggy.
  3. The part where you get to drive the go kart is great, especially the tunnel scene.

Canals were really fun. I just remember when the game came out and I would always have to load in at every straight away, and that would last a good 1:30. :( Can't believe that game is 3+ years old already... sheesh.

Also, one of the best scores from the HL2 soundtrack was featured in the Canals.

have you tried fakefactory's cinimatic mods? They sure add new life to the games.

Alyx is beautiful as she is. (lol)

Greatest game ever though... Episode 2 did a great job at capturing the "OH MY GOD THIS IS A HALF-LIFE SEQUEL" feeling so I'm soooooo pumped for the next one.

For me, Valve and the HL series are the end all to be all.Or Be all to end all... or however that saying goes.

As far as I know, there aren't even any games that even come close to the Halflife franchise..............not even close. I'm fixing on playing all non-stop.

i started back on ep2 today.. MY GOD the game is suffocating me! in the good way.

they tease the fuck out of you making you think your going back to top grounds, but you end up right back in the mines.. you get a quick glimpse of the beautiful fresh air up above, then youre RIGHT back down in the caves again.. MAN, its exhausting, exillerating, and mentally straining..

i still cant play no more than 1-2 hours at a time, it wears me out.

EP2 was one of the best followup's to any game I've played since Resident Evil 2 I recon. Amazing! And with orange box, tf2 - which as just said, the field of view - why they set a limit is beyond me I used to play in 120.
One things clear though, my christmas bonus is buying me a new pc and I'm so redoing all of halflife2, in one setting!

I just finished EP2 and man, it just leaves me begging for more. The whole aperture labs coming into play will lead to interesting things

There's talk of coming out with HL3 instead of an episode3. The portal device in a HL3 would rock.

I heard it was the other way around, releasing 3 additional episodes closer together rather than making people wait an extended period of time to play a sequel

(remembers how some of you guys shit up halo 3 thread)

Half Life 2 is one of the most generic shooters I've ever played. Every plot hole is "covered" by "Oh, G-man controls everything". Weapons are decent, but goddamn if I didn't get tired of being beaten over the head with physics.

GRAVITY GUN GRAVITY GUN GRAVITY GUN

Oh, and driving in the fucking buggy/go kart made me for an hour made me want to stab someone.

Also, buzzed which lowers my tolerance for this game even more.

(That being said, I did enjoy one part in the prison where you set up an ambush using sentry guns. That's it though.)
  21. That part is ridiculous. I die about ten times before I pass it.

Amen. I almost had a heart attack before I beat that stupid part. The next few times through I tried it once and if I failed I just cheated. Fuck that part

I agree it's one of the worst bits in the whole game, but it can actually be very easy (at the cost of being boring).

Just set up the 3 turrets outside one of the small cells on the left side of the area, positioned so that together they cover both directions the soldiers approach from, stick a crate in front of the doorway to help block grenades, and you can just sit there for 5 minutes while the turrets kill everything. Occasionally you might have to pick up a turret that fell over or knock a grenade away but that's about it. It feels like they got a bit lazy on the level design there, would have been interesting to hear them justify it if HL2 had a commentary track (playing Ep1+Ep2 with commentary enabled is well worth it)

I figured that one out after being killed twenty or more times. The first time through the game, it got down to '~sv_cheats1 god' though:eek: . That part of the game was designed to teach us 'Rambo' types a lesson.

alright, i just remember i stopped playing Ep2 right when you get to the rocket. how much is left in the installment after that point? As i recall, I carried that damn gnome all the way to the car part, then ditched him because it was too hard on my shitty system. then realized it wasn't that much driving so figured I could do it.

anyways, how much is left of ep2 after you get to the rocket?
