In case anyone hasn't noticed, it was released today. I thought it was really good, but it only took 3 hours to finish...seems a bit short, even for an "episode". I'm sure Sin Episodes: Emergence took longer than that.

Only 3 hours to beat? I had kind of wished for more.. but hey this is just ep 1. When is the second episode supposed to be released?

Not sure, I'd hope to see it early next year if not before. Ritual are aiming for 6-8 months between releases for the Sin series IIRC, so I guess Valve will do something similar. If they want to do it sooner I won't be complaining :)

    spoilers below...

At the start, you see Vortigaunts saving Alyx from the explosion at the end of HL2, restraining the G-Man somehow, and taking you away from him, after which you wind up near the base of the Citadel with Alyx and Dog. For the first half of the episode you have to get back into the Citadel and delay the main reactor from going critical, then escape back into the city. For the whole of this section you only have the gravity gun (you get the super grav gun for a while too). The rest of it is fighting your way from the Citadel to a train station where people are being evacuated. After you get on a train with Alyx, it shows you riding away from the city with the Citadel on the horizon. It starts to blow up, weird Combine ships appear and start flying overhead, then the screen goes white and that's it finished.

Took me about 6 hours (then again I play slow).

Personally I thought it was MUCH better than Sin:Emergance.

    HL2:E = worth $20

    S:E = not so much .... maybe about $12

I'll get the next HL episode but think I'll pass on Sin (unless they lower the price and/or GREATLY improve the game).

Oh, and no boat/car levels this time ... some pretty good puzzles though (for a FPS)

I wonder if the 'nude Alyx' mod will work on this one. You should of seen the wife's face when I fired up HL2 and Alyx walked in naked as a J-bird.

I like dit so far. I play agmes a lot less since I have no time, so it'll take me a few days to finish. I enjoyed the Sin Episode, so I think I'll like this. I wish they wer emore like 12 bucks tho, although the fact that they give you a discount if you preorder it is nice

Hooray for my first drunk post. I almost got ass tonight, but I am such a gentleman it is not even funny.

I thought the price wasn't bad - $20 is roughly £10 over here, and a new game typically costs £30-40.

Lol wedge for a second there i thought you were right and the exchange rate was 2$ to 1 euro and got a bit scared. It's more like 17 euro but that's still a good deal.

You realize scotland uses pounds right? Not the euro. Thats a pound symbol. And 20$ does equal 10£

I don't know, when I first fired it up, the sound and graphics were buggier than hell....WTF is up with that shit? Then I notice that, by default, the antialiasing was set to 4X and sound volumes were maxed.
Got it to play, but ran out of 'playing' time so had to put in on the shelf until today.

I downloaded it, and it just crashes out after the valve intro when it tries to load the menu. Says a runtime error closed the app. Im sure its cause i downloaded it though ofcourse.

So, how long did it take you guys to beat HL2? If this only lasted 3 hours for you, I wonder what it would be for me. I beat HL2 in 12-13 hours (one sitting). So if your times are comparable to mine, then maybe this might be worth getting.

    But Im kinda thinking not.
