Prop 8 supporters based on publicly available donor information.
What's the point of this? I can only thing of one purpose, and I don't like it.
(I'm also against Prop 8, but still)
Boycott business and individuals (like dentists & lawyers) who supported prop 8.
I like zooming out and seeing Focus on The Family highlighted and spending over 50k in support of a Californian bill...
drive by their place of residence and leave some copies of playgirl on the doorstep?
That can't be legal. Anybody else sick of hearing about prop eight?
I see it as a big, well-needed "fuck you" to all the closed-minded religious people who think that just because same-sex couples can't get married, they won't be gay.
Gee whiz, maybe pretty soon they'll start allowing mixed race marriages too...
Yeah, I'm sick of hearing how human rights were violated by the state and populace.
With education at such low levels nothing Americans do surprises me any more.
I voted no and our world has bigger problems then not allowing gay marrage in California. I understand it's stupid and biggoted i've been in some heated arguments about it but right now i'm more worried about war in the middle east, gun bans or trillions of our tax dollars going to bailouts. I just figure all of these bible thumpers have been so brainwashed there is no changing them, when it comes around again I'll vote the same and hopefully we can win.
LOL at the one guy in Midland, Texas (The Bush family home town and estate).
I still don't understand how something like that could have generated so much damn money. Those fucking yes on 8 signs are still littering the roads around here too.
At the polling place near my house, there were at least 20 Yes On Prop 8 signs put on public / school property pushing the agenda, and on the streets nearby there were probably 10 Yes signs for each No sign. It's pretty disgusting to imagine how much money was spent on that.
Hrmm something like this happened in england recently. A list of BNP members and associates got published and shit hit the fan for a bit.
Mr. Joseph Fong
World Institute On Disability
That's not ironic or anything.
Ah, so these are listed just to boycott them eh....hmmm like boycotting that "homemaker" who donated $40. Let's just say I don't trust people with this type of information. I know all the people that supported gay marriage are so pure, but still.
I was definitely no on prop 8, but I think it's pretty silly to boycott a business because they have a different belief than I do. Even if i do see it as a more inherently evil belief, it has nothing to do with their business. They've earned the money, they should be able to spend it however they want, right?
True, and the money I've earned can be spent where I want... not at their business.
This whole site is immature. From either side of the issue, it's still immature.
thats not many businesses
the website, it is going a bit too far though.
yea, thats like not buying new balance shoes from a religious shoe factory worker or the owner... "do you know how to make shoes? i dunno how to make shoes... i like these shoes and i need some shoes!"
these people have to understand that every christian and many other "believers" dont agree with homosexuality/marriage, and the christian population that owns and runs businesses in the usa is far far outnumbering than your little peanut brain can fathom to imagine.
but there just comes a time when you gotta throw in the towel and say "fuck it, i need these shoes!"
if you wanna boycott these businesses, you mind as well be boycotting every church in the usa.
because thats where your problem is
Are you drunk?
Yea, I boycott every church, and I only shop where I want. I'm not saying the site is right, only that since the information is there, you can use it. I personally don't care enough to look up if X, Y, or Z business gave to prop A, B, or C. But some people are that picky...
If I read correctly the site was formed solely on voluntary information regarding the donators. Therefor they knew they would be publicly acclaimed / criticized. In the long run, no real harm done.
While it's interesting to see the donations (for passing prop 8 ) coming from the biggest gay communities in calif., and all, that don't want gay marriages. I have to wonder what the motive for publishing this info is and what else the perps of this propaganda are capable of. If the people have spoken with thier votes, so be it, the next time, campaign harder than the oposition. I do have a hard time knowing that money and contributions are what scam people into voting though. America is so lazy, most would be perfectly happy letting someone else do thier thinking for them, just so they'd not have to put forth the effort. (clue to why it passed in the self proclaimed most-progressive-state)
So you're boycotting people that don't agree with your point of view? Isn't that along the lines of what the problem is? (lack of toleration and acceptance)
lol, great point!
Amen. And this map is just going to cause trouble. Boycotting and vandalism (because you know that's going to happen) is just going to galvanize people against them. And besides, it's not a civil rights issue anyway. Just refer to the other Prop 8 thread so we don't have to rehash all of this. Tolerance does not equate to acceptance. You can't force it on people.
What is prop 8 ?
