Hey, I just got a ticket for a burnt out headlight, I've tried to change them before because they're quite dim as it is but it's impossible for me to figure it out....
I've got an '03 Suzuki Aerio it looks like I have to take apart the entire bumper buuuuuuut I don't want to do that if it isn't necessary.... any help would be awesome :)

Without seeing the car that's hard to say, can you reach the inside part of the headlight when the hood is up? Modern cars usually have a rubber cover that slides back away from the inner part of the headlight assembly, then a clip or some way to lock the bulb itself in place. You wouldn't need to pull the whole headlamp housing out I'd think...

I googled it and found both of those sites, the fixya site was no help at all and the 2carpros site was helpful if I'd known what everything was. I have already tried to get my step dad to help cuz he's pretty good with cars but he couldn't get the whole bumper off (i can't remember why...)

Dan- there are soooooooooo many screws/bolts(whatever they are) you have to take the whole bumper off I guess, but it's a tight squeeze to get some of them out and I just don't want to spend the money taking it to a shop if I don't have to :(

you dont have to take it to a shop. have your dad help you if he has the tools. you ask him to point out what bolts he believes need to be undone and then you take them off. you will have to lay on the ground to get some of the bumper bolts off that are hidden but it is not a hard job at all. it looks rough but its not. every bolt should be the same size so you should not get anything mixed up.

    Ask Dustin in Vancouver! ;)

Edit - It sounds crazy, I don't think you should have to remove the bumper. Look behind the lights after popping the hood...

They are almost as easy as changing a bulb in a living room lamp and are easier than those in a set of ceiling lights I just installed.
No car on Earth reqires a bumper to be pulled to change out a bulb. Matter of fact, they are now 10X easier than the old cars and require no aiming to boot.

Actually some Volvo SUVs do require the bumper to be pulled to change a bulb. I just did one last week but I did it another (faster) way.
