I know it's days away, but I like to celebrate the whole damn week before. Starting with the ceremonial carving of the pumpkin...
noice. sometime this week im picking up a few pumpkins, a small one for a pumpkin bong (dunno if it'll be practical, complete with corncob pipe in his mouth), a medium size for some pyramid illuminati shit, and one for maybe an android logo. picking up my friends smoke machines tonight to build a chiller for our party. we want that fog on the ground. he wants me to do something with his strobe light, mod it to flash a triangle shape, dunno if its possible, but imma see what i can do. or maybe just overlay some orange filter for it. getting the old black light out, and maybe figure out a way to rig up a laser and mirrors on the ground to form a pentagram or triangle. any good videos on pumpkin carving with a dremel??
Got the audio gear put together today. A few small Infinity satellite speakers and two old subwoofers I had laying around, my old Sony receiver, and my iPod loaded up with a ton of scary music and sound effects. People always put out some crappy boombox cranked way louder than it can handle, sounds like shit and no bottom end at all. Dual subs are going to rock the neighbors, I can't wait. Just waiting for the fog machine to arrive. And I might spring for one of these, saw one at a local store and went gaga over it. 7ft wide, and it moves it's head back and forth. It would look awesome in a thick fog.
$4 for plastic bin $10 for aluminum ducting, both from home depot. already had caulk and ice. i just caulked the inlet/outlet to keep the cool in. instead of a straight shot from in and out, i snaked it around so the fog will get colder longer. Works great so far, just need to tighten up a leak of which im using a rolled up cut sock to create a tight seal between the ducting and fog machine. The fog sticks to the floor, but any leak will cause the room to fill up. I only tested with 4 ice trays, a full bin of ice will be AWESOME. This is a 400w fog machine. we'll be using my logitech 2.1 setup. since its a townhouse, we cant be disturbing the neighbors so its little sound and bass will be fine, and this little setup gets loud and bassy enough. got 2 pumpkins today, one for the pumpkin bong and one for some illuminati design. will be posting pics when i get them carved, but i need to wait to carve until thurs or fri. right now im trying to figure out how to make shapes with the strobe light. unfortunately none of my ideas have worked excpet for making a cuculoris, but its kinda janky looking. TASSIA, any ideas???! EDIT: MSP, the pumpkin seller told me not to carve until 2-3 days before halloween, or else it'll rot faster. So im not carving until thurs and they're remaining in the fridge right now, until then.
Nice fog chiller! I'm going to run my fogger this year and see how I like the results, I'll likely build one of those. And yeah, I figure that pumpkin will be good and rotten by this time next week. A lot depends on the temps outside.
Warmer temps = pumpkin mush. We've had cold Octobers here where I've managed to keep a pumpkin semi-fresh for upwards of a month.
Well, I've hit a bit of a snag. The company I bought my fog machine from just sent me a tracking number and it's estimating November 1st delivery. It's only coming from New Jersey, so I'm hoping it beats the estimate. If not I guess I'll run to Spirit Halloween and buy one of their 1000 watt foggers. It wouldn't hurt to have two anyway, and I've got a 20% off coupon too. Hell, maybe I'll buy the other fogger either way. I want the front yard covered in the stuff.
front and inside fogger ftw. have it billowing out the front door... and have it billowing into the neighbors yard its actually going to be a two in one META costume, taking the youtube costume to the next level. i think whiskas will like it (and NO tinfoil is involved, lol) EDIT: im still a little worried about the seal between the fogger vent and the ducting. it gets real hot on that front plate, and if i use a sock it could get hot and melt or catch on fire. i cant think of any other method... tying the ducting from the top and bottom, to the back still allows fog to creep out. and that shit SMELLS.
What does the chiller do for the fog machine? Make it more dense? Also, you should have cut the opening bigger in your costume (About thigh high) and instead of Youtube, it should have been chatroulette.
So I just ditched my first costume that cost me $150 for another tonight. Luckily, most of that was latex appliques so I'm sure they will get used but not with my new one. :/ First time dressing up for halloween since my childhood....
3rd post i know... :O: My friend Mike (2'nd time Iraq veteran now on a pacemaker at 26 years old) and his girl made these. Pretty damn cool. MSP's is very cool none the less. That's my style.
Damn! That girl's got mad skills... But yeah, the fog chiller keeps the fog denser so it'll cling to the ground. That creepy, Thriller type effect...
Good news! My fog machine was just delivered. Honestly, ground shipping from New Jersey to Cincinnati was overnight... Torx, it was shipped Fedex, did you having something to do with that?
Sweet, it would be pretty lame to get it the day after Halloween. Me, I just got my coustume this afternoon. It's not fantastic to be honest, but it will do just fine.
of course! instead of pouring the ice in the bin, im leaving the ice in the bags, just in case theres a leak, there wont be water everywhere, it'll all stay in the bag... hopefully. and i got several of those plastic "ice paks" i can put on the bottom that'll last for hours.
My kids are going as Captain Hook (my oldest), Tinkerbell (obviously my daughter), and Peter Pan (my youngest). Although, my youngest could be robin hood too...I'll take pics that day, once they're all dressed up.
Well the trial run with the fog machine was a trip. I ran it for 3-4 minutes and my whole garage and half the yard were covered in the stuff! It's kinda windy today too, if the air is still on Halloween this is truly going to bury the neighbors.
went to kinkos and printed out a few more glossy cardstock flyers. fedex discount ftw. 1st half of costume done. its a little flimsy on the sides, i need more wooden dowel bracing and tape. the 3m spray ended up being a clusterfuck of a mess and ended up using tape anyways. i guess not bad for a first try using this method
