Surprised that no one has complained about the ergonomics of the device. Yeah, it's cool that's it flat and has an onscreen keyboard. Unfortunately, I think that will be a major drawback. You'll either be forced to hold with one hand and type with the other, rest it on your lap if you have the room or ability to or place it flat on a table.

As old as netbook/laptop folded designs are, they're way more comfortable.

they coulda rehashed the name ibook and wouldve been better than MAXipad.
i guess everyone gobbled up the rights to other cool names. then again they have been developing this in the past 10 years, so the name ipad back then wouldve been kinda cool i guess.

at least att isnt forcing a contract to use their data.
i think its kinda cool theyre allowing pay as you go data, i guess att figures noone gonna buy it, so fuck it... mind as well make themselves look good knowing noones gonna be sucking up their data network with these.

unless theres some groundbreaking software reason to get this, i wont be rushing out to buy one. i'll consider, but not rush and wait in line.

You are kidding right? I don't see how open source automatically makes things like apps better. The only apps that I have heard that are better on android are google apps.

was considering the new ipad untill i saw the real facts about it. pricey; because if i want all my music on it i need the 64 gb one. no camera on it, no flash, not even sms? really? hows it gonna be a big iphone with no sms? was considering but out the window with that, maybe the third gen will be worth while.

The only thing I can think of that would make the ipad shine, would be some sort of program that merges the fun of an etch-a-sketch, Lite-brite, and Finger-Painting, with soothing background music and interesting background wallpapers, into a fun interactive finger-light-painting-etch-a-sketch-like game.

I wasn't even excited in the first place, but i'm pretty dissapointed, it seems pretty gimped to me, and extremely expensive, though i guess it is an apple. I can't believe it doesn't even have a USB port!

My netbook is not only $150 cheaper then the lowest model but on top of being a full fledged computer it has a larger screen, a proper and larger real keyboard, 3 times the hard drive space of the highest model that cost 3x as much as my netbook does, its upgradeable(ram and HD), its just as portable. its a nifty novelty, i guess, but i don't really see any reason to want one.

But hey, i can't flip my netbook over to show someone a picture! I guess i'll have to live with simply turning it around....

With Samsung new transparent OLED Display, i dont think we will have to even worry about turning screen around or even flipping netbook. With further R&D the screen can be probably be made more productive/efficient. Add few layers of glasses, may be get 3d effect too...

transparent displays seem more of a novelty than anything right now.

Does that even consider R/D costs?

Not much R&D costs when you take existing technology and just multiply its size...

I'm pretty sure that processor was built from scratch though.

I doubt I'll ever get an iphone, the touch doesn't have as much memory as I'd like, and I need an e-reader.

I really want an iPad. I don't give a shit about it's name, I'd be able to get the i am tpain app and that's all that counts! :p

The only reason I care about this is because this is the coolest e-reader I've seen. I'm definitely going to wait a bit and see what everyone else comes out with, but I've been waiting for this type of thing. I think my only issue with it is the lcd. The thing I liked about the other e-readers is the paper looking screen. But I think I can get over it because I'd probably be inside studying with it. Text books are way cheaper this way. I'm tired of spending so much on books every semester. I like the size, its smaller and lighter than any of my big ass books for school.

I just want a dope ass e-reader! The iPad is so damn convenient. Sometimes I'm too lazy to start up my laptop or a desktop...

    yee.

I bought an iPhone 3GS this weekend. I've been wanting one for a while but never had the money or just kinda threw it out of my mind. I love it. The battery life is whatever, to be honest. Even with all the little battery saving tips, it still drains faster than a mofo. Other than that, it's the best smart phone I've owned. Blows away my Blackberry on all levels.
