i said i need back wheel drive! ive drove civics and rsxs before, i can feel the difference between that and a back wheel drive car, i would get a motorcycle, but i dont have health insurance.
REAR WHEEL DRIVE FOR FUCKS SAKE you dont have health insurance and your going to spend 34 grand on a car i smell bullshit you've been driving cars since you were 13, whooptie fucking doo. just do us one favor, you gotta post pics when you total your car you just gotta and please for the love of god, edit your link so i dont have to keep scrolling to the right
^werd. to everything. anyway, why not an old muscle car? it'll teach you a thing or two about rwd, working on your own stuff etc. My 3rd car (in 2 years) was a 72 monty carlo. if I hadnt picked up one that had been ragged out so hard, I still would have it.
Buy a 240 and learn to drive it stock. I promise you that by the time you're 20 you'll be pulling some stunt driving moves and be ranked in the top 5 at your local go-kart racing track (go me). Oh and maintenance doesn't cost that much for any car so long as it isn't breaking down all the time and isn't European. Though if you get a rare model car (like an evo) expect to pay lots of money for normal repairs or replacement parts. I hate to keep referencing my car (though I love to brag about it) but things like my rear quarter panel window(the one behind the rolled down windows in the picture) costs $927 to replace.
You just got your permit and you want a RWD sports car? You WILL wrap it around a tree and/or telephone pole within a week. Ask anyone, ANYONE about stories with their first car. Everyone fucks up with their first car(not totalled but stupid accidents like curbs and guard rails, etc.), so its really stupid to spend 30 grand on it. Get a civic or something and run it into the ground while you learn to drive so you dont fuck up a nice car from the start. Driving a beater can be alot of fun sometimes....
Everyone says dont do it, and I wanna say the same. But I know that if I had a chance to get a car like that at any age I would have gone for that shit also. You probably wont change your choice based on what everyone here says anyway, so just make sure you keep a camera in the car for when (and if) you start to fuck shit up. Good luck man.
i learned to drive in a 1994 chevrolet corsica  it's in a better place now... as for the rest, i agree with all the other guys, get something cheap and reliable EDIT:for all the people who looked here at the right time...sorry about the 4 posts of the same thing... my computer messed up (using my crappy athlon :-( )
bought an 1995 240sx, s14 silvia, picked it up today, came all black, 86,000 miles used, bought it for $8,400 manual transmission, came with racing seats/belts, and some parts already, such as an nismo motor mount, and some stuff from tein, when i opened the hood up, there was a bar that says nismo, it also came with JL audio 10 inch subs, and some pioneer speakers, im gonna change the speakers, and get an alpine head unit, so far car is great, no scratches or anything thanks guys
first day i got my first car, a rwd sports car i wrapped it around a tree btw dont get an alpine head unit they suck not like you listen to anyone anyways maybe you should get some health insurance
what company makes good heads then? i know someone with an alpine one, and it was pretty cool, also i can plug my ipod in so thats cool
i have an alpine, i parked my car at the park and ride and took the faceplate with me. now it shuts off randomly when i drive, press a button or change a song, i had no quarrels with my pioneer primier
ha ha i cant believe you paid nearly 10 grand on a 12 year old Nissan when your mom Still needs to be in the car when you drive it and for the record I'm on my 3rd daily driver and its my first front wheel drive if you guys cant handle rwd its time to go trade your testicals in
My dad's stock Alpine of his old car kicked ass... I don't think I listened to Pioneer Heads before, but they do make kick ass home stereos and HTs...
Unfortunately your car is a 240sx and not a silvia. Unless it's right hand drive of course. Anyways.. nismo stuff is nissan warrantied gear so that's good. Tein is a good company (i'm assuming they're coilovers). But if you have coilovers then you're going to need to take care of them. Every 20 days or so take some WD40 and spray the coils to make sure they don't accumulate any rust. Also, since you live in Cali i'd be careful with the mods you plan on doing.... Oh and what kind of seats do you have? Most "racing seats" are garbage and if they are harness seats they are really dangerous unless you have a rollcage+helmet. Got any pictures? California has a ton of ricer 240's and I really hope you didn't buy one. It seems like you rushed your purchase too.. i mean you made this thread like 2 days ago wanting an Evo and now you have a 240 in your possession. Did you do any compression tests? This car was probably beat to hell. But anyways we could start a Black 240sx Tweak3d crew!
aftermarket motor mount eh? a "bar" that goes over the engine? racing seats/belts? lots of stickers/decals? ... synthetic oil? man, it better have synthetic oil in it
wow. way to rush into something. its very very important to research a buying decision. especially an almost 9 thousand dollar buying decision. you would have been just fine with a civic, because as much as you know about cars, rwd means shit.
AFTERMARKET MOTAR MOUNTT = FAST!!!111111 funkgab: The "bar" over the engine is strut tower brace. It somewhat, but very minimally, VERY minimally, increases the handling of the car. Now. Things to remember when you get your license(I'll admit, I forgot) 1) Your car is not fast. You have nothing to prove. 2) Your car is not the end-all of handling machines 3) You are not a professional road race driver, so don't act like you are. Those above statements should keep you from getting in an accident.
