Where is that clip of Bill Cosby telling blacks not to name their kids things like Trayvon? I think his parents should watch that... a few times.

My point is... how is this more important than any other murder? The color/religion/sexual orientation of the victim should be irrelevant. We're talking about human lives.

    Am I missing something?

Yes, we would have the same level of controversy if the shooter was black. Look at how this was handled by the police, how could it take three days to notify the family when you have a working cell phone to look through and find the next of kin? If Mr. Zimmerman were black it would still make a huge stink because he wasn't arrested don't forget he was told not to follow the teen and did so anyway. He's playing by his own rules which got him into trouble.

I see what you're saying, but you're technically wrong. Most folks are prejudiced. To judge folks based on previous experience. I would imagine that you and I had similar stories actually. Growing up with a particular group hating you, threatening you, for nothing you had personally done. A smart and rational person would learn from those experiences and attempt to predict and avoid them in the future.

I judge every person individually, and not based on the color of their skin. Not racism. But I do prejudge people based on their appearance and actions, and keep them at a distance until I have more to go on. A smiling black man wearing a suit in a business meeting I would immediately treat as a peer. A white guy in a do-rag and a ratty Kid Rock t-shirt I would shun and avoid.

We had a discussion about a case study in my Ethics class about "reverse discrimination". It was called that because it was blacks who were discriminating against a white person. My question to the teacher and the people talking about it was, "how is it reverse discrimination?", and implied that by saying that, you were saying that all discrimination was white to black. The group giving the presentation about the issue kind of looked at me stupid and said "because... it's blacks against whites, not whites against blacks". I explained that it doesn't matter who is discriminating against who, it's still just "discrimination". Nobody seemed to understand my point.

People are that ignorant because of media brainwashing no doubt.
Your point was valid. Racism is racism no matter the race.

I understand your point and I suspect theirs a legal reason why it's spun that way. Discriminating against whites is just as bad as discriminating against anyone else.

Now, let's talk about the rampant discrimination old people get to face everyday by everyone.
    It's even legal now.

Hispanics are crackers too? I still don't know enough facts about this case to formulate an opinion. I wonder if any of the contributors to all the controversy do.

    - The police dispatcher told him to stay and wait for police backup. Uhhm yeah. We show up mainly to take reports after shit happens.
    - Profiling works. He was wearing a hoodie in Florida and not from the neighborhood. I know my street do you? Why not approach?
    - Again profiling works! If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, ya probably got a fucking duck! Look at this kids backround. But Sharpton wont and certainly the Black Panther Party that put a bounty on Zimmerman's head wont.
    - When Zimmerman approached the dead guy, he was attacked, punched in the nose and had his head bashed on the cement sidewalk several times. If armed, what would YOU do at that point? Where was the police?
    - He took out a person that may have done worse in the long run. Good for him. I hope he ate his Skittles.
    - Pussy Ass Cracker shirts are the reason some in society look after their own neighborhoods. It's OK to make shirts with that logo but God forbid if a Black man killed a white man/woman and shirts with similar smears were printed up. Hmmm? Who has a logical thought on that one?

I would also add this, could the media show current pics of not just Zimmerman but of the dead guy at the age he was killed and the slayer.....current pics. Some keep showing a shot of the dead guy as a 13 year old. Slayer sounds good.

All very good points from Mr. Zimmermans POV. Now do the same from Trayvons POV without the racial stuff because that T-shirt has nothing to do with what happened that night.

I don't know what happened, I'll leave that to the courts. But I will say this, it could be proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that Trayvon had attacked that guy, and that the beaner was justified, and yet the black community will cry racism and never, ever admit that the kid got what he deserved. C'mon HEAVY-D, you know that shit is true. To this day I personally know black folks that think O.J. was framed.

All I know is that when it's fashionable to walk gangsta walk, talk gangsta talk and dress gangsta fashion.........mistakes are going to be made by some people that may happened to be armed and innocent people are going to get hurt. Why is it so important to act like a bad ass and look like a bad ass gangster? I not only see it with urban blacks, but with hispoanics and wannabee white convicts also.
I don't even know if it's profiling. On the news everynight, if there's a violent shooting or crime, it's involving a hispanic in this area (fact). Am I "profiling?" When I see a white guy or gal walking down the street with that "all-tough-jailhouse-walk", 9/10 times that person has actually done time. Am I "profiling?"

Which set of guys would you automatically be apprehensive and on-guard about?

    You just profiled

Damn, can't a brother ask a question without white people getting all defensive and shit? :p
As I've said before I don't know what happened and am still waiting for the results of the investigation. Tac gave a very good speculation of what Mr. Zimmerman may have been thinking at the time which makes a lot of sense in my opinion.
I simply asked him to do the same from Trayvon Martins perspective.

As far as OJ is concern, some people still think that Casey Anthony is guilty and some people still think the governments secret demolition team took out the Twin Towers.

I don't have to do the same from the dead guys point of view. I'm just stating what the police have said. We can make up a story if you would like? Would that make you feel better?

I really wish everybody could just drop the whole race issue, not just with Trayvon, but with EVERYTHING. Obviously this would never happen, but it would solve a lot of problems. (Some of) the black community cries about slavery and how they were oppressed. Too bad that no black person in America today has been a slave, and guess what... no white person has been a slave master! That was almost 2 centuries ago... time to let it go. I judge people on an individual basis, and associate only with those who do the same. I have friends of all colors.

I wouldn't be afraid of either group of white guys. Also the people that brought down the twin towers were Muslim Extremists. They should be profiled on a regular basis. Casey Anthony IS guilty and so is O.J.

I'm just saying that everyone "profiles". We profile people, situations and circumstances............ and we are constantly financially profiled, socially profiled and commercially profiled.

The words "prejudice" and "profiling" are basically the same thing, and they both work. My advice to a group of people who don't want to be negatively prejudged or profiled would be to work hard in their communities toward changing the behaviors that led to the prejudice in the first place. Or they could just protest and shout racist remarks, I'm sure that would work just as well.

I prejudge everybody to some extent, most folks do, and it doesn't really have anything to do with race. Take my commute to work this morning. A BMW tailgating the guy in the lane next to me - I prejudged that he was a young white professional, and that he would likely cut me off in my lane. And eureka! I was right. He cut me off, and when I pulled up beside him later he was a white guy in a suit.

It appears we are in agreement then MSP. Coleman, yes we should profile people that look a certain way. Life sucks, wear a cup.
