Gas prices here in Canada are getting kind of out there too. It's 1.319/litre here. Still $50-$60 to fill up my car.

I've been tempted to get a car for a year or so now, but until they introduce something truly efficient I just won't bother. 40mpg is balls as far as I'm concerned. I've gotten used to not having a car for 3 or so years now, so I guess I can wait.

i haven't seen 3.95 here yet, at least around me. I've seen 3.89 though. pretty crazy. my 12mpg explorer kinda sucks. at least I don't drive it very much. i'm contemplating if I should sell it for a more fuel efficient car. I don't know though. I just don't have any money and it's not worth a whole lot.

Well, I'm starting the process of selling my 4Runner for that exact reason.

They gave me a pretty awesome trade in on the CR-V in January. $16k for a 2005 with 30k miles and a near-totaled accident.

Hooray for Prius and public transit.

Yeah, but a CR-V is actually a decent fuel vehicle in that class.

Canadian's are paying around 5.80 for our gas right now. Diesel is a little more then that and my Celica needs premium so i'm over $6 allready.

I think when I'm in town from here on in, I'm going to rollerblade to work. It's only a 10km drive. Just means I have to leave a little earlier. Although, if I fill up my car and I'm at home for 3 weeks (never happens but you never know) a full tank, driving back and forth between home and work twice a day, still lasts me just fine.

I just filled up, the cheapest station in town is $3.67. I did see one at $3.98 on my way to school though.

So with my regular somewhat aggressive driving style, I was at like 12.5mpg overall, and that is about half freeway driving! The EPA specs are 15/18, driving a bit more chilled out I was able to get 13.75, then over my last tank I've been doing the 'hypermiling' stuff (google it, essentially driving ultra efficient: lots of coasting and grandma-acceleration) and hit 14.67.

I don't know why my milage has always been so poor, and this is despite the car being in perfect running shape, a $1200 tuneup and street tires. Eh.

The Edmonds.com tradein value is at around $10,000 right now and private sale is $13,000, but I'm wondering if I'll get anywhere near those...
