Yes, yes, YES!!! I loved FF8 loads, it's much more mature and sophisticated than FF7. I'm still not sure why everyone goes apeshit over that game, it's just alright. May I suggest finding a torrent of Suikoden or Suikoden II? They're in the same RPG vein, the stories are incredible, and there's a gigantic cast of characters that can be recruited.
FF8 and good story? How high were you when you played it? Or did you not happen to finish it? The last disc is just god awful. Probabaly the worst story twist I've ever seen in an RPG.

Rinoa in space. GUNBLADES?!? Irvine?!? That shit was top shelf hooch! I dunno man, I thought that game was a total trip. My favorite game is also Suikoden II, so maybe my opinion is skewed. I also thought FF7 was meh and I didn't really enjoy Xenogears either. Robots mechs can get fucked. Oh, and I also have a great respect for FFX. My favorite in teh series by far. Fantastic story!!
The only reason I have that old dinosaur Playstation original is so I can occasionally play some FF8. I loved the end of that game. The first time through, I played obsessively to get to the ending CGI movies, only to get called away so I missed them!
I still stand by FFVII as my favorite. FFXII being my second favorite...yep. FFXII was fucking badass and I really don't care what anyone says. FFVIII was awesome, too. I recently played it but it loses its momentum sometime about 15 or so hours in; during all the dream sequences.
The Orphanage dream sequences, you mean? It regains momentum with a vengeance after that! Or do you mean the "witches throughout time" sequence, where you get to do whack-a-mole with the clone-army of sorceresses?
I just got a PSP for christmas....anyone know if they come with a password or what? I've been trying to set everything up the way I want it and I can't change my password if I don't know what the current one is....wtf mate?
.....ive never played a ff game in my life. i have never been a fan of jrpgs, but i did get a psp so i got disgaea 2. if i end up liking it i may pick up some ffs.
i'm still playing that anniversary edition of ff on psp. It's pretty fun, except I was in this cave and every step I took I fought the same monsters over and over and over and over... I lvled a few times so whatever lol I like ffx and x2 the most because ffx was the first one I beat by myself, I think it middle or high school. I feel I got brain washed because it's all I played for a week or 2 straight. I cried. lol (I think it's cause my soon to be bf was blond like tidus and I was brunette like yuna =P) I can't wait for the new one to come out!!!! I feel like I've been waiting forever.. oh, i also like ff9 =] Garnet is my birthstone lol. I don't think i beat it though. My game got ruined and I was so disheartened I never played again.... lol
